Method for producing double-stranded RNA-rich lactic acid bacterium, and said lactic acid bacterium
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for efficiently obtaining a lactic acid bacterium that is made to contain a large amount of double-stranded RNA; and a lactic acid bacterium having a high double-stranded RNA content obtained by the method. The object is achieved by: (1) a method for producing a double-stranded RNA-containing lactic acid bacterium, including a step of culturing a lactic acid bacterium under at least one condition of an aeration condition and a low-temperature condition lower than an optimum temperature, thereby obtaining the double-stranded RNA-containing lactic acid bacterium; (2) a double-stranded RNA-containing lactic acid bacterium, in which the content of double-stranded RNA is 2.0 times or more as compared with the content of double-stranded RNA when a bacterium of the same strain is cultured for the same culture time under an optimum temperature and non-aeration condition; or the like.
COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING, TREATING, OR IMPROVING GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASES COMPRISING STRAIN OF GENUS CORYNEBACTERIUM AND CULTURE THEREOF
The present application relates to a composition for preventing, improving, or treating gastrointestinal diseases comprising a strain of the genus Corynebacterium, a culture thereof, and threonine. As the composition according to the present application is confirmed to have excellent anti-Helicobacter pylori efficacy in cell experiments, efficacy in improving gastrointestinal diseases in animal experiments, and efficacy in gastric mucus synthesis, the composition can be applied as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating gastrointestinal diseases, as food for preventing or improving gastric ulcers, or as a composition for feed.
EXTERNALLY MODULATED VARIABLE AFFINITY CHROMATOGRAPHY
This present invention is directed to variable affinity chromatography apparatus and methods for using the same. In particular, the polarity of the stationary phase or the mobile phase is modulated using an external stimulus. Exemplary external stimulus that can be used in the invention include, but are not limited to, electric field, electromagnetic radiation including UV, Vis, and infrared wavelengths, as well other stimuli that are known to one skilled in the art. Generally, any external stimulation that changes the polarity of a stimulus responsive material can be used. One particular embodiment of the invention provides a chromatography apparatus comprising: (i) a chromatography column having a stationary-phase separation medium contained therein; (ii) an external stimulus generator operatively connected to said chromatography column; and (iii) a chromatography mobile-phase, wherein at least one of said stationary-phase separation medium and said chromatography mobile-phase comprises a stimulus responsive material that adopts a different configuration based on the absence or the presence of said external stimulus, wherein different configurations of said stimulus responsive material results in a different stationary or mobile phase affinity, and wherein said external stimulus is selected from the group consisting of electric field, electromagnetic radiation, and a combination thereof.

Spirulina infused gummies and method of preparing the same
Spirulina infused gummies containing micronutrients for consumption by a person to deliver beneficial and necessary nutrients to the person and a method of preparing spirulina infused gummies to eliminate the bad odor and taste normally associated with spirulina. The gummies have pectin, water, citric acid, sugar and/or glucose and spirulina. Preservatives and flavor additives can also be included. The method of making the gummies includes heating a mixture of citric acid and water, adding pectin and sugar to the mixture and then stirring, adding hot glucose to the mixture, stirring the mixture and allowing the mixture to cool, adding spirulina to the mixture followed by continuous stirring, adding additional citric acid to the mixture, stirring until jellification begins, pouring the mixture into molds and removing the mixture from the molds when cool. Preferably, a preservative and a flavor additive are added to the mixture prior to the additional citric acid.
