A novel dietary supplement and nutritional aid and methods for the manufacture and administration of the same are disclosed for the inhibition of OCD in afflicted animals, particularly horses. The present invention relates generally to a feed composition and methods of use thereof for reducing the development of Osteochondrosis Dissecans (OCD) lesions in predisposed young animals, particularly horses. More specifically the invention provides a nutritional formula that targets the metabolic deficiencies identified as being correlated with development of OCD.

NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITION RICH IN WHEAT PROTEINS
Disclosed is a protein mixture and also to a food composition including such a mixture for feeding adult individuals, sportsmen and sportswomen, elderly individuals, or individuals requiring an improvement in their physical condition, such as individuals who are ill, bedridden, in a weak state, undernourished or suffering from sarcopenia. HIGH-MAGNESIUM CONCENTRATED LIQUID
A high-magnesium concentrated liquid is disclosed. In a first embodiment, the high-magnesium concentrated liquid comprises magnesium ranged from 60000-70000 ppm, sodium ranged from 1000-3200 ppm, potassium ranged from 300-3000 ppm, calcium ranged from 100-300 ppm, and the balance of water. In a second embodiment, the high-magnesium concentrated liquid comprises magnesium ranged from 40000-50000 ppm, sodium ranged from 8000-28000 ppm, potassium ranged from 3000-20000 ppm, calcium ranged from 15-500 ppm, and the balance of water. In a third embodiment, the high-magnesium concentrated liquid comprises magnesium ranged from 80000-100000 ppm, sodium ranged from 3200-12000 ppm, potassium ranged from 3000-20000 ppm, calcium ranged from 100-200 ppm, and the balance of water.
USE OF LACTOBACILLUS PARACASEI STRAIN GMNL-653 TO PREPARE COMPOSITION FOR RESISTING BONE LOSS
A use of a Lactobacillus paracasei strain to prepare a composition for resisting bone loss is provided. The Lactobacillus paracasei strain GMNL-653 is capable of promoting the expression of TGF- and IL-10, while inhibiting the expression of osteoclast related genes and reducing the content of IL-17A in serum, so that the bone loss is slowed down.

A biologically active food additive, comprising drone brood homogenate in the daily amount of between 10 and 600 mg which can be combined with a calcium compound selected from calcium carbonate, calcium citrate, calcium gluconate, calcium aspartate, calcium amino acid chelate, calcium fumarate, calcium succinate, calcium ascorbate, calcium phosphate, or any combination thereof, the calcium compound content being from 16.67 to 93.75 wt. %; the content of drone brood being from 6.25 to 83.33 wt. %. Trials showed that administering the preparation contributes to the normalization of androgens in women resulting in the overall health improvement and disappearance or decrease of clinical signs of androgen deficiency, as well as sustaining the normal testosterone level, compensating for the deficit of calcium in the body, facilitating more efficient assimilation of calcium and retention thereof in the bony tissue for a long time.

An improved manufacturing process produces microcrystalline hydroxyapatite with sustained gradual calcium release that avoids spiking in blood calcium levels. Although the improved material did not cause significant elevation of blood calcium, it was just as effective in promoting bone mineralization as conventional calcium supplements. In addition, the material has much higher levels of bone growth factors as compared to prior hydroxyapatite products.
