Composition comprising bacteriophages for reducing, eliminating and/or preventing Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella paratyphi B

The present invention relates to a new cocktail of bacteriophages with specific lytic activity against Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella paratyphi B., for reducing, eliminating and/or preventing them in farm animals and animals from the poultry sector, such as poultry, hens and breeding hens, in addition to eggs. It may be administered as an additive in the feed, in water or by spray. Moreover, the cocktail may be used as a disinfectant in work areas of farms and abattoirs, and in processed foods, without affecting the organoleptic properties of the product.

Compositions and methods relating to genomic modifications in avian primordial germ cells

Methods of producing an exogenous protein in a bird egg are provided according to aspects of the present invention which include: providing transfected avian primordial germ cells by forming a complex of Cas protein and a guide nucleotide sequence in the avian primordial germ cells, whereby a donor DNA sequence is inserted into genomic DNA of the avian primordial germ cells under transcriptional control of a regulatory element that directs tissue-specific expression of the exogenous protein; introducing the transfected avian primordial germ cells into a population of recipient bird embryos and incubating the recipient bird embryos, generating germline chimera birds; obtaining a heterozygote and/or homozygote transgenic bird by breeding the germline chimera bird; and isolating the exogenous protein from an egg laid by a female transgenic bird.

A transgenic non-human animal is provided. In certain embodiments, the animal comprises a genome comprising an immunoglobulin heavy chain locus comprising: a) a transcribed gene encoding a fusion protein comprising, from N-terminus to C-terminus: i. a scaffold comprising a first binding domain; and ii. a heavy chain constant region operably linked to the scaffold; wherein the scaffold is capable of specifically binding to a target in the absence of additional polypeptides; and b) a plurality of pseudogenes that are operably linked to the transcribed gene and that donate, by gene conversion, nucleotide sequence to the part of the transcribed gene that encodes the binding domain.

LASER ENRICHMENT DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR POULTRY

An apparatus, systems, and methods of providing enrichment to poultry during raising or maintaining of the poultry. One or more light sources project beams to generate laser spots at and around the poultry. A control regimen moves the light spots relative the poultry in generally random fashion during timed sessions for each given time period (e.g. each day). The spot movement is designed to promote benefits to poultry and producer in correlation to experimental data related to animal welfare, health, and commercial value.

STERILE AVIAN EMBRYOS, PRODUCTION AND USES THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) editing agents, and their use in preparing DNA-edited cells and birds. The present disclosure further relates to gene-edited or genetically modified avians and gene-edited or genetically modified avian primordial germ cells (PGCs) for producing gene-edited or genetically modified avians (birds) that can serve as surrogate hosts for donor PGCs. The present disclosure further relates to methods for producing avian strains that can produce viable embryos and offspring, in both sexes, and for their subsequent use as surrogate hosts for donor PGCs.

Population of isolated chicken cells reprogrammed from somatic cells

The present invention relates to the production of avian induced pluripotent stem cells from non-pluripotent somatic cells, including embryonic fibroblasts and adult somatic cells. In this method, avian (including quail or chicken) somatic cells are reprogrammed into a state closely resembling embryonic stem cells including the expression of key stem cell markers alkaline phosphatase, etc. by transfecting/transducing the non-stem cells with genes (preferably using a non-integrating vector as otherwise described herein or alternatively an integrating vector, such a lentiviral vector, retroviral vector or inducible lentiviral vector, among others) which express at least nanog, Lin28 and cMyc. In preferred aspects of the invention, the transfected/transduced vectors express nanog, Lig28, cMyc, Oct 4 (POU5F1 or PouV), SOX2 and KLF4. The induced stem cells which are produced contribute to all 3 germ layers, the trophectoderm and in certain aspects, the gonad in chimeric offspring.
