The device includes a heating plate consisting of a thermal insulating material in which a groove is formed, said groove includes a heating element, relative to which a surface of a workpiece to be welded is positioned in close proximity to the heating element. A feed channel for a shielding gas is formed in the heating plate and communicates with the groove via at least one through-channel, and the feed channel for supplying shielding gas can be connected to a shielding gas source via a feed line and a valve. The device may further include an assembly for welding a first and a second workpiece, said assembly includes a first and second movement device for moving the workpieces towards one another.

Locking flush joint pipe connection and method
11760034 · 2023-09-19 ·

A method of borehole pipe installation begins with unfinished stick pipes brought to the installation site and then machined or cut to form male and female ends. The pipe ends are then locked together to form a flush joint. The lock can be provided via a groove cut into one of the ends for receipt of a lock gasket, which secures and seals the joint when the pipes are pushed together, and prevents the pipes from being pulled apart. Alternatively, to the groove and lock gasket, the ends can be glued and screwed together, with the screws allowing the joined pipes to be pulled through the borehole before the glue is dry. The pipe joint has flush exterior and interior surfaces to minimize borehole clearance and maximize fluid flow through the pipe assembly.

METHOD OF JOINING PIPES AND APPARATUS FOR FACILITATING THE SAME
20230332725 · 2023-10-19 ·

An apparatus and method for joining pipes includes a plate for melting mating surfaces of the pipes to be joined. Additionally, the apparatus utilizes a vacuum in order to push the first and second pipes together in lieu of hand or mechanical pressure which may be inconsistent. Additionally, the vacuum allows the pipes to be joined to settle on each other in order to create a pressure about a periphery of the end of the pipe being joined to the other pipe. The consistent pressure creates a very strong joint between the first and second pipes.

COMPOSITE/METAL JOINTS FOR COMPOSITE RODS
20230287914 · 2023-09-14 ·

A method of forming a joint between a composite component and a metallic component is disclosed. The method includes forming a first groove in an outer surface of the metallic component on a first end of the metallic component. The first groove extends circumferentially on the outer surface relative to a center axis of the metallic component, and the first groove extends radially inward from the outer surface relative the center axis. The method further includes inserting the first end of the metallic component into a first end of the composite component. A second groove on the composite component over the first groove of the metallic component such that the composite component extends radially inward into the first groove of the metallic component. A composite hoop reinforcement is then applied in the second groove in a circumferential direction and the composite component, and the composite hoop reinforcement are solidified.

Apparatus and method for friction welding of reinforced thermosetting resin pipe joints

A system for coupling pipes includes a first pipe having a tapered, spigot end; a second pipe having a tapered, spigot end; and a coupler having two tapered socket ends adapted to internally receive the respective tapered, spigot ends of the first pipe and the second pipe. the first pipe and the second pipe are made from a reinforced thermosetting resin (RTR). A thermoplastic material is disposed between an exterior of the first pipe and an interior of the coupler. A thermoplastic material is disposed between an exterior of the second pipe and the interior of the coupler. Upon application of rotational force to the coupler, friction between the first pipe, the second pipe, and the coupler generates heat sufficient to melt the thermoplastic material such that, when the heat is removed, the hardened thermoplastic material seals the first pipe and the second pipe to the coupler. A method for coupling pipes includes disposing a thermoplastic material between an exterior of the first pipe and an interior of the coupler; disposing a thermoplastic material between an exterior of the second and an interior of the coupler; inserting the first pipe and the second pipe into the coupler; and applying a rotational force to the coupler such that friction between the first pipe, the second pipe, and the coupler generates heat sufficient to melt the thermoplastic material such that, when the heat is removed, the hardened thermoplastic material seals the first pipe and the second pipe to the coupler.
