The method includes putting an upper layer material on a first table operating as cathode; lowering an upper mold operating as anode onto the first table, emitting a high frequency wave for dielectric heating; stopping the high frequency dielectric heating; moving a second table carrying a lower layer material having a tacky bonding property to below the upper mold; and lowering said upper mold onto the second table. In the apparatus, the second table or the lower mold is provided on the top surface thereof with recessed sections that are transversally and inwardly separated from a position where an edge of the first machining means contacts, by 0.2 mm to 1 mm; and a cushion member being arranged in the respective recessed sections.

The female cavity forms, against the action of the male member, a guiding end stop preventing the male member, and therefore the hub, from rotating about the central axis to oppose any rotary screwing/unscrewing of the plug and maintaining a degree of freedom in axial translation along the central axis of the male member within the female cavity, so as not to impede a sliding of the hub and of its screw thread along the central axis against the wall.

The invention relates to a sonotrode for the ultrasonic welding of plastic components of an electronic cigarette.

The sonotrode comprises: a body comprising a first end which can be connected to an ultrasound generator, and a second end; a cavity that develops from the second end towards the first end, for receiving at least partially a plastic component of an electronic cigarette to be welded. The cavity defines an opening at the second end of the body, communicating with the outside of the sonotrode.

In particular, at the opening, the cross section of the cavity has an outline comprising: a first portion that has the shape of a first arc of a reference circumference, which comprises a first end and a second end, opposite each other; and a second portion, that has the shape of a second arc of said reference circumference, which comprises a first end and a second end, opposite each other.

The aforementioned outline further comprises: a third portion, connected to the first end of the first portion and to the first end of the second portion, which develops externally with respect to the reference circumference; and a fourth portion, connected to the second end of the first portion and to the second end of the second portion, which develops externally with respect to said reference circumference.

A process, for joining workpieces using hybrid mechanical connector-resistance welding. The process in some embodiments includes introducing a conductive fluid to an interface between the workpieces. The process also includes inserting at least one mechanical conductive connector into at least one of the workpieces so that the connector reaches the interface having the conductive fluid therein. The process in some embodiments includes further applying energy for welding to the at least one mechanical conductive connector so that the energy passes, through the connector, to the conductive fluid and heat is generated in the workpieces at the interface, thereby melting the workpieces and forming a weld joint connecting the workpieces.

A determining device (5) determines whether the fastener (11) is defective or not by calculating a load curve defined by the time and the load during which the pressure was applied and then determining whether an amount of change per unit of time in the load curve after a reference load has been exceeded is within a range of a predetermined reference value.

A novel design of a polymer retention hub created having an innovative feature used to permanently attach a thin wall nozzle core without use of adhesives or ancillary parts to form a conjunct nozzle. Additional polymer in the correct amount is molded into a polymer retention hub in close proximity to a location where a mechanical lock must be formed to join the two components together. The inventive design of the polymer retention hub is configured to produce an enclosed cavity with the strength required for separation of a nozzle core from a standard taper.
