The coated glass sheet of the present invention includes: a glass sheet; and a coating film provided on at least one principal surface of the glass sheet and having a smooth surface. The coating film includes: isolated closed pores present within the coating film; and a matrix. The coating film is substantially free of open pores open at the surface of the coating film. For the coated glass sheet of the present invention, a transmittance gain is 2.5% or more, the transmittance gain being calculated by subtracting an average transmittance of the glass sheet as determined by applying light having wavelengths of 380 to 1100 nm to the glass sheet in the absence of the coating film on the surface of the glass sheet from an average transmittance of the coated glass sheet as determined by applying light having the wavelengths to the coated glass sheet from a side on which the coating film lies.

Provided is an interlayer film for laminated glass capable of suppressing the discoloration by the light and heat in an interlayer film including a resin layer colored with a coloring agent. The interlayer film for laminated glass according to the present invention has an infrared reflective layer, and a first resin layer containing a thermoplastic resin, the first resin layer is arranged on a first surface side of the infrared reflective layer, the infrared reflective layer has a first maximum reflection wavelength at a wavelength of 350 nm to 450 nm, and a second maximum reflection wavelength at a wavelength of 800 nm or more, each of reflectance at the first maximum reflection wavelength and reflectance at the second maximum reflection wavelength is 15% or more, and the first resin layer contains a coloring agent.

GLASS LAMINATE WITH THIN INSERT OBSCURATION HAVING SUPERIOR STRENGTH AND OPTICAL QUALITY

Black enamel frit obscurations are commonly printed on laminated and tempered automotive safety glazing where they serve to hide the adhesive used to bind the glazing to the automotive body and to protect the adhesive from ultraviolet radiation. However, frit has a number of drawbacks. Frit weakens the surface of the glass. It can create distortion in the glass due to thermal gradients. Printed frit obscurations are incompatible and cannot be used with many types of coatings. Standard frit blocks ion exchange and cannot be used with the chemical tempering process. In addition, while many types of frits are available for printing on soda-lime glass, there are very few, if any, for non-soda lime glass. As the market moves towards thinner and lighter glazing, non-soda lime glass types are finding increasing application in automotive glazing. These limitations are overcome by replacing the printed black obscuration with an obscuration formed from a thin sheet of plastic, which is integrated into the laminate. This results in a laminate having superior optical quality, higher strength and a lower probability of breakage as compared to a laminate with a black enamel frit obscuration.

The black ceramic layer is formed in a peripheral portion on a vehicle-interior side main surface of the glass substrate. The water absorbing antifogging film is formed on the vehicle-interior side main surface of the glass substrate and is located in an inner peripheral side relative to the peripheral portion. A space of more than 1 mm and less than 30 mm exists between the black ceramic layer and the water absorbing antifogging film on the vehicle-interior side main surface of the glass substrate.

Windshield with electrically controllable sun visor

A windshield with an electrically controllable sun visor is described. The windshield includes an outer pane and an inner pane that are bonded to one another via an intermediate layer. According to one aspect, a functional element with electrically controllable optical properties is incorporated into the intermediate layer and above a central field of vision. The functional element is connected to the outer pane via a region of a first thermoplastic layer, and is connected to the inner pane via a region of a second thermoplastic layer. According to another aspect, the region of the first thermoplastic layer and/or the region of the second thermoplastic layer is tinted or colored.

A window assembly includes a first pane of glass. The first pane of glass is chemically strengthened and exhibits a surface compressive stress of 400 MPa or more. A second pane of glass has a first major surface and a second major surface. The second major surface of the second pane of glass and a first major surface of the first pane of glass face each other. The second pane of glass includes 68-74 weight % SiO.sub.2, 2-6 weight % MgO, 1-10 weight % CaO, 12-16 weight % Na.sub.2O, 0-1 weight % K.sub.2O, 0.8-2.0 weight % Fe.sub.2O.sub.3 (total iron), 0-1.25 weight % TiO.sub.2, and 0-1.25 weight % CeO.sub.2. A polymeric interlayer is provided between the first pane of glass and the second pane of glass. The window assembly exhibits a direct solar transmittance of 55% or less and a total solar transmittance of 65% or less.
