Provided is a polymer capable of providing a coating film that has good initial adhesiveness to a base material and good adhesiveness thereto after a pressure cooker test, and has excellent abrasion resistance as determined by a falling sand abrasion test. The polymer includes a perhaloolefin unit, a vinyl ester unit that contains neither a hydroxy group nor an aromatic ring; and a hydroxy group-containing monomer unit. The polymer has a hydroxyl value of 110 mgKOH/g or greater.

METHOD FOR DEPOSITING AN ORGANIC INTUMESCENT COATING ON A GLASS SHEET

A method for the deposition of an organic intumescent coating on a glass sheet, includes the preparation of an organic intumescent coating composition by mixing a latex having a pH from 4 to 6 and an intumescent agent chosen from thermally degradable polycarboxylic acids, and the application of the organic intumescent coating composition to the glass sheet.

Described herein are organosilicon modification layers and associated deposition methods and inert gas treatments that may be applied on a sheet, a carrier, or both, to control van der Waals, hydrogen and covalent bonding between a sheet and carrier. The modification layers bond the sheet and carrier together such that a permanent bond is prevented at high temperature processing as well as maintaining a sufficient bond to prevent delamination during high temperature processing.

Process for making a functionalized hollow body, having a layer of glass, including a superposition of one or more siloxanes and contacting with a plasma

A process for making a functionalized hollow body includes: providing a hollow body including a wall which at least partially surrounds an interior volume of the hollow body, the wall including a layer of glass and having a wall surface with a surface region; at least partially superimposing the layer of glass in the surface region with a functionalizing composition precursor on a side of the layer of glass which faces away from the interior volume, the functionalizing composition precursor including one or more siloxanes; and at least partially contacting the functionalizing composition precursor with a plasma, thereby obtaining the functionalized hollow body including a functionalizing composition which at least partially superimposes the layer of glass in the surface region on the side of the layer of glass which faces away from the interior volume.

Glazing with a light guide laminate stack
11167531 · 2021-11-09 · ·

A vehicle glazing (10) wherein a light guide stack (22) is located between a portion of the inner transparency (26) and the outer transparency (28). The light guide stack includes a polycarbonate film (32) that is bonded to the transparencies by layers of PET (38, 40) that are secured to the polycarbonate film on one side by silicone (34, 36) and that are secured to the transparencies on the other side by PVB (42, 44). The terminal end of an extending tab of the polycarbonate film forms an edge that is connected to a light bar (14) that such visible light propagates through the light bar and into the polycarbonate film through the edge. Visible light propagates through etchings in the smooth surface of the polycarbonate film to form an image. An extension of one of the transparencies protects the polycarbonate tab and supports the light bar during installation of the glazing into the vehicle portal.

A method for forming a vehicle interior system. In the method, a first glass layer is provided in which the first glass layer has a first major surface and a second major surface. The second major surface is opposite to the first major surface. A second glass layer is provided in which the second glass layer has a third major surface and a fourth major surface. The fourth major surface is opposite to the third major surface. The second major surface is bonded to the third major surface with an adhesive layer to form a glass laminate. The glass laminate is placed on a mold, and the glass laminate is formed at a temperature below a glass transition temperature of each glass layer to form a first curvature.
