20210024032 · 2021-01-28 ·

A range adjustable child seat alert system includes a seat module with clasp and receptacle members that releasably lock together by buckling and each of which receives a shoulder strap of a child seat. A circuit attached to the receptacle member contains a transceiver and microcontroller, determines if the seat module is buckled and sets an output power for a limited communication range for the transceiver. The range is limited to the vicinity of the child seat. If a fob does not receive a communication from the circuit while the seat module is buckled, then the fob produces an alarm.

Tilt-lock adjuster with tension indicator

A tilt-lock adjuster system includes a tilt-lock adjuster that is used to tighten and loosen webbing. The tilt-lock adjuster includes an indicator configured to indicate when proper tension is applied to the webbing. The tilt-lock adjuster has a frame to which the indicator is slidably coupled and a web bar slidably coupled to the frame. The web bar is asymmetric for one way assembly with the frame. The web bar has a web engagement notch that is concave for enhancing locking of the webbing to the frame. The web bar has a frame guide slidably engaged to the frame. The frame defines a web opening in which the frame engagement ledge extends. The frame guide of the web bar includes a key guide foot. The frame has an orientation notch configured to receive the key guide foot of the web bar.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO IMPROVE CHILD RESTRAINT INSTALLATION DETECTION

An automotive vehicle includes a body having a passenger compartment, an anchorage system for securing a child restraint disposed in the passenger compartment, the anchorage system including a latchable bar member, a child restraint installation system coupled to the anchorage system, the child restraint installation system including a trigger member, a sensor contact member, a compression member, a retaining member, and a sensor, and at least one controller in communication with the sensor, the at least one controller being configured to, in response to satisfaction of a first operating condition, generate a first notification signal and, in response to satisfaction of a second operating condition, generate a second notification signal.

CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM FOR AN INFANT
20200398710 · 2020-12-24 ·

A child restraint system for securely carrying an infant in a vehicle, said child restraint system comprising a rigid shell that is concave of an inner side and which may be attached to a seat of a vehicle, to provide a unitary element that serves as both seat and back for supporting the infant, and a harness for holding the infant within the concave side of the shell; the unitary element comprising two parts that are hinged together so that the shell folds along a center line running through the rigid shell, each part comprising at least two panels, such that each panel is attachable to adjacent panels to form the rigid shell, or disconnectable from the adjacent panels so that the child restraint system is compactable into a substantially flattened configuration for storage.

Monitoring System for Unattended Children in Child Seats

A system for monitoring and generating warnings of situations in which a safety harness of an infant carrier, car set, stroller, or other type of child safety seat is left in a buckled state, which comprises a warning apparatus with a lower portion that fits around a lower buckle of a safety harness and has a flap extending from one side of the lower portion that, once an upper buckle of the once attached to the lower buckle, can be placed by a caregiver across the top of the upper to buckle and attached to the lower portion to cause the state of a wireless transmitter to change.

System and method of monitoring and managing a child seatbelt
10857971 · 2020-12-08 ·

A system and method of monitoring and managing a child seatbelt ensures a child is secured before and during a car ride. The system used to implement the method includes a vehicle with at least one child seatbelt, an onboard computer, and at least one computerized seatbelt adapter. The at least one child seatbelt includes a seatbelt tongue and a seatbelt buckle. The seatbelt adapter includes a tongue receiver, a buckle insert, and an adapter lock. The method begins by inserting the seatbelt tongue into the tongue receiver. The adapter lock secures the seatbelt tongue within the tongue receiver, if the ignition is on, and if the vehicle is in a driving mode. The adapter lock is disengaged to release the seatbelt tongue from the tongue receiver if the ignition is off, and if the vehicle is parked. The seatbelt tongue may then be safely removed from the tongue receiver.
