Driver airbag apparatus for vehicle

Disclosed is a driver airbag apparatus for a vehicle configured to be deployed from the region behind a steering wheel, having at the center portion thereof an obstacle, toward the region in front of the steering wheel while avoiding the obstacle. The driver airbag apparatus includes an airbag housing disposed behind the steering wheel, an airbag cushion accommodated in the airbag housing and configured to be deployed by gas injected thereinto toward the region in front of the steering wheel through a space between the obstacle and the steering wheel, and a housing cover coupled to the airbag housing so as to cover an opening in the airbag housing and configured to be ruptured by the deployment pressure of the airbag cushion so as to open the airbag housing to a limited angle toward the region in front of the steering wheel.

Horn system

The present invention provides a horn system (1) for a vehicle, comprising an airbag module (7) and a cover (3) for receiving and covering the airbag module (7), wherein the cover (3) is moveable relative to the airbag module (7), and a horn circuit (17) for producing a warning signal in response to moving the cover (3) relative to the airbag module (7). The horn system according to the present invention is characterised in that it comprises at least one conductive element (21, 22) attached to a housing (8) of the airbag module (7) and displaceable between an assembling position and a holding position, wherein the conductive element (21, 22) is configured to interact with the cover (3) in the holding position.

Seat arrangement with side airbag

A seat arrangement for a vehicle includes a side airbag. The seat arrangement includes a support frame to which the side airbag is fixed in position and which is upholstered by an upholstery member. A cover terminates the seat arrangement toward an outer side. A tear seam is provided for an abrupt opening of the cover by the side airbag. A non-expandable surface structure is provided at both sides of the tear seam, which is counter-supported on the seat arrangement. At least one of the non-expandable surface structures is counter-supported on the upholstery member.

Airbag Apparatus

An airbag device capable of restraining a motor vehicle occupant in a stable position even in an oblique collision. The airbag device includes a bag-shaped main bag inflated and deployed on a vehicle front side of the passenger seat, a bag-shaped center bag inflated and deployed on the inner side of the main bag in the vehicle widthwise direction, and a slit that provides a separation between the main bag and the center bag on the vehicle rear side. A rear end part of the center bag is inclined to gradually protrude rearward in the vehicle as the rear end part is extended upward and protrudes further to the vehicle rear side than at least the main bag.

Leather trim panel skin hidden tear seam with disrupted fiber matrix

A vehicle interior trim system such as an instrument panel or a door panel includes a panel substrate defining a deployment aperture. An inflatable device such as an air bag is adapted to deploy through the aperture during a crash. A natural, tanned leather skin covers the substrate, wherein the skin has a tear seam corresponding to the aperture on a hidden surface of the skin. An aperture door may be fitted within the deployment aperture which is adapted to open against the skin in response to deployment of the inflatable device. The tear seam is comprised of a region on the hidden surface of the skin having a disrupted fiber matrix from exposure to an alkaline solution such as ammonia, bleach, sodium tetraborate, sodium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate, trisodium phosphate, potassium hydroxide, and potassium carbonate.

Airbag inflation tunnels and related systems and methods

Airbag cushion assemblies comprising an airbag inflation tunnel positioned within an airbag cushion. Some embodiments may comprise an airbag cushion comprising an inflator opening and an airbag inflation tunnel coupled to the airbag cushion. The inflation tunnel may be configured to direct inflation gas from an inflator positioned within the inflator opening down the airbag inflation tunnel upon deployment of the inflator. A plurality of directional vent openings may be positioned within the airbag inflation tunnel that may be configured to direct the inflation gas laterally relative to the inflator. The inflation tunnel may further be configured such that the inflation gas contacts a terminal end of the inflation tunnel prior to exiting the plurality of directional vent openings.

Cover Element For An Airbag Module, And Airbag Module Having Such A Cover Element

A cover element (10) for an airbag unit having a stationary section, a first flap (14), and a second flap (20), wherein the first flap (14) is connected to the stationary section by at least one first hinge (31), and the second flap (20) by at least one second hinge (32). The two flaps (14, 20) are connected to each other by a tear connection (35). The first flap (14) has an outer area (16) and an emblem area (18), which protrude at least partially from the outer area (16) and extend into the second flap (20). In order that the emblem area (18) is not in the way of the expanding airbag even if the emblem area (18) is relatively large, the emblem area (18) is connected to the outer area (16) of the first flap (14) by a third hinge (33), so that the emblem area (18) can swing against the outer area (16) when the first flap (14) is open.
