Extruded 3D ramp/packaging device for tight package requirements
An air curtain delivery assembly includes an arcuate extruded unitary channel and an inflatable air curtain. The channel includes a longitudinal length defining an arc substantially matching a fore-aft curvature of a vehicle roof panel and having an open mouth defining a ramp for directing deployment of the inflatable air curtain from an interior of the channel and inboard of a vehicle side structure. The channel may further be configured and dimensioned for attaching to a portion of the vehicle roof panel and beneath a trim piece overlying the vehicle side structure. The channel may further include a vehicle-forward portion substantially matching a downward angle of a vehicle A pillar.
Airbag apparatus for vehicle
An airbag apparatus for a vehicle my include an airbag housing accommodating an airbag cushion, an inflator supplying gas into the airbag cushion, a hard retainer fixing the inflator to the airbag housing, and a soft retainer having a first side coupled to the hard retainer and controlling a flow of the gas supplied from the inflator.
Low mass passenger airbag
An airbag system includes an airbag module configured to be supported by an instrument panel of a vehicle. The airbag module includes a fabric housing having a top panel and one or more side panels extending from the top panel, and an airbag disposed within the fabric housing, the airbag movable between an undeployed position and a deployed position. In the undeployed position, the one or more side panels include a folded portion configured to extend in an unfolding action as the airbag is inflated and deployed, the unfolding action of the one or more side panels directing an expansion of the airbag in a desired direction.
PASSENGER AIRBAG CHUTE CHANNEL WITH RADIAL RIB PATTERN
An airbag assembly is provided to include a chute channel disposed between an instrument panel skin and an airbag module. The chute channel includes a base; and a plurality of radial ribs disposed on a surface of the base, extending from a middle portion to an edge of the base and configured to transfer forces from the airbag deployment towards a tear seam on the instrument panel skin.
AIRBAG DEVICE
An airbag includes a body, an insert opening and a flap member which covers the insert opening from inside of the airbag. A retainer is disposed inside the airbag, and an inflator is inserted into a holding section of the retainer via the insert opening such that the root end protrudes from the insert opening. The flap member entirely covers the insert opening of the airbag body as unfolded and is joined to the airbag body, with a continuous seam, by the circumferential edge except the leading edge disposed towards the leading end of the inflator. The flap member thus covers the holding section of the retainer. The retainer includes an open region which exposes an outer periphery of the inflator towards the flap member, and the leading edge of the flap member is disposed at a position to be pressed against the outer periphery of the inflator via the open region at airbag deployment.
Occupant restraining system for a vehicle
The invention relates to an occupant restraint system (10) for a vehicle comprising a roof cross member (12) which extends transversely to a longitudinal vehicle axis (A) and is part of a body of the vehicle, an airbag module (14) which includes an airbag (16) and in a non-actuated initial state is accommodated inside the roof cross member (12), wherein the roof cross member (12) has a front side (18) facing a front end of the vehicle and an opposite rear side (20) facing a rear end of the vehicle, and wherein the front side (18) or the rear side (20) of the roof cross member (12) includes a mounting opening (22) for receiving the airbag module (14).
HOUSING FOR AN AIRBAG MODULE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH HOUSING
A housing for an airbag module for accommodating a folded gas bag. The housing including a base portion and at least one lateral portion projecting from the base portion. At least one of the portions comprises at least two layers of a flexible material, which are arranged one above the other and are cohesively connected with each other.
Gas bag arrangement for a motor vehicle
A gas bag arrangement for a motor vehicle is provided. The gas bag arrangement contains a gas bag which can be deployed for the protection of a person present outside the motor vehicle along at least a section of the outside of the windshield or another portion of an outside of the motor vehicle, at least one pressure reducing device for reducing the internal pressure at least of a partial region of the at least partly inflated gas bag, and a means for moving at least a section of the at least partly inflated gas bag out of the field of view of a vehicle occupant of the vehicle.
AN AIRBAG UNIT FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY DEVICE AND A RELATED METHOD OF PACKAGING AN AIRBAG
An airbag unit for a motor vehicle safety device includes an inflatable airbag formed of flexible material and provided in a rolled and/or folded package. The inflatable airbag is held under compression by a cover extending around at least part of the package. The cover is formed of a moulded pulp material and is configured to impart a predetermined stable shape to the unit. A method of packaging an airbag in such a manner is also disclosed.
AIRBAG MODULE AND ASSEMBLY
The invention describes an airbag module (10) for attaching to an instrument panel, comprising an inflator (12), a fastening portion (36) which is arranged so that the airbag module (10) can be attached to the instrument panel via the fastening portion (36), a receiving portion (46) for an airbag as well as a holding portion (57) which serves for holding the inflator (12). The airbag module (10) has a support structure (16) including the fastening portion (36) and a housing (14) made from fabric material. The holding portion (57) is partially configured in a holding area (58) of the housing (14) which is opposed to the fastening portion (36) so that the inflator (12) is fastened from outside and extends at least partially into the receiving portion (46). The support structure (16) comprises at least one supporting portion (18) U-shaped in cross-section which at least partially encompasses the housing (14). In addition, the support structure (16) includes a peripheral frame (66). Moreover, a subassembly is described.
