Side airbag apparatus
Problem: To provide a side airbag apparatus which can prevent the deterioration of the neck damage value of a passenger during a side collision or sufficiently protect the waist of the passenger. Resolution Means: A side airbag apparatus 100 installed in a vehicle, including: a bag shaped cushion 114 which is housed in a seat back 104 of a vehicle seat 102 and expanded and deployed on the side of the vehicle seat utilizing gas supplied from an inflator 116; and a holding part 128 for retaining the shape in the housed state of the cushion, wherein the cushion is wound or folded in a long shape in the vertical direction of the vehicle and housed in the seat back in the shape with the upper part 126 thereof further folded back to the anterior of the vehicle, and wherein the holding part retains the upper part or lower part of the cushion which is folded back to the anterior of the vehicle.
AIRBAG UNIT
An airbag unit includes a seat, a pair of side airbags, a seat state detector, and an airbag deployment controller. The seat is reversely rotatable in a front-rear direction of a vehicle. The pair of side airbags are expansive and deployable, and incorporated in the seat on respective sides of the seat in a width direction of the vehicle. The seat state detector detects a rearward-oriented state of the seat, i.e., a state in which the seat is rearward-oriented in the front-rear direction. The airbag deployment controller performs a deployment control of the pair of side airbags, on a condition that the seat state detector detects the rearward-oriented state of the seat. The airbag deployment controller performs the deployment control in a reverse sequence from a deployment control in a frontward-oriented state of the seat, i.e., a state in which the seat is frontward-oriented in the front-rear direction.
SIDE AIRBAG WITH INTERNAL DIFFUSER
Side airbags to provide protection to vehicle occupants are provided. The side airbags include an outer skin forming an inflatable chamber having an upper thorax portion and a lower pelvic portion for contact with the thorax region and the pelvic region, respectively, of the associated vehicle occupant. The side airbag includes a loop diffuser for placement about an inflator disposed within the inflatable chamber. The loop diffuser has opposed first and second open ends to permit communication of inflation gas to the upper thorax portion and to the lower pelvic portion, respectively, of the inflatable chamber. The loop diffuser permits significantly greater flow of inflation gas to the lower pelvic portion as compare to flow of inflation gas to the upper thorax portion of the inflatable chamber. The first open end can be significantly smaller in cross section as compared to the second open end.
Vehicle side curtain airbag device having front protection function
A vehicle side curtain airbag device having front protection function, comprising a side airbag (1) and an auxiliary airbag (2) connected to one side surface of the side airbag (1) and arranged in a left/right transverse direction after being expanded; a dividing hole membrane (3) is disposed between the side airbag (1) and the auxiliary airbag (2); the dividing hole membrane (3) is ensured to be opened only when the internal pressure of the side airbag (1) reaches a certain value, thus realizing self-adaptive opening threshold adjustment, controlling the instant of inflation and inflation speed of the auxiliary airbag (2), and adjusting the stiffness of the auxiliary airbag (2). When a vehicle has a collision, the device protects the head and neck of a passenger in both side collision and front collision traffic accidents, thus effectively absorbing the collision impact energy of the passenger, and reducing injury to the passenger.
Head protecting airbag device
A head protecting airbag device is adapted to be mounted on a vehicle provided with an assist grip that is mounted on an upper edge of a window by front and rear attachment portions. An airbag includes a gas inflow portion which is inflatable with an inflation gas and a non-inflow portion which admits no inflation gas. The gas inflow portion includes a shielding portion which covers an area of the window below the assist grip. The non-inflow portion includes a thickness regulating portion which regulates the thickness of the shielding portion when the airbag is inflated. In the shielding portion, the thickness regulating portion is disposed on a front upper portion of the shielding portion below the front attachment portion of the assist grip, and is not disposed below the rear attachment portion of the assist grip.
Vehicle Occupant Restraint Device
An occupant restraining device capable of coping with a plurality of collision directions without additional airbags is provided. An occupant restraining device (100) is adapted to restrain an occupant P sitting in a vehicle seat (110), and the device includes a seatbelt (120) fixed to left and right sides of a seat cushion (116) of the seat to restrain the occupant's hips (P2), airbags (130a) and (130b) stored inside a seat back of the seat on the left and right sides thereof and inflated and deployed on the left and right sides of the occupant. Tensile fabric (140) is connected to each of the airbags and the seat cushion and applied with tension, when the airbags are inflated and deployed, so as to be extended between the airbags inflated and deployed and both side surfaces of the seat cushion.
CURTAIN AIRBAG FOR VEHICLE
A curtain airbag for a vehicle may include a curtain airbag cushion, a first folding portion formed from an indoor side to a window side of the curtain airbag cushion, at a predetermined distance rearward from a front end of the curtain airbag cushion, a second folding portion formed from the indoor side to the window side of the cushion airbag at a predetermined distance rearward from the first folding portion, a panel tether connecting the first folding portion and the second folding portion to each other on the window side of the curtain airbag cushion, the panel tether being shorter than a length of the window side of the curtain airbag cushion between the first folding portion and the second folding portion, and a protruding portion protruding inward between the first folding portion and the second folding portion of the curtain airbag cushion by tension of the panel tether.
Curtain airbag assemblies for utility vehicles
An inflatable airbag assembly for a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) that includes an airtight housing to be mounted to a vehicle structure of the UTV, an inflator to generate inflation gas, and an inflatable airbag cushion disposed within the airtight housing that is in fluid communication with the inflator to receive the inflation gas and deploy from a packaged configuration within the airtight housing to a deployed configuration to protect an occupant of the UTV during a collision event. The UTV may comprise a plurality of inflatable airbag assemblies disposed in various locations on the UTV to help keep passengers and their appendages in the UTV.
SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE
A side airbag device that is stowed inside a vehicle seat and protects an occupant seated in the seat, including an airbag that restrains the occupant by expanding and deploying, and an inflator that supplies expansion gas to the airbag. The airbag includes a pre-push chamber that contains the inflator inside and deploys mainly on the occupant side (inside), and a main chamber that is connected to the pre-push chamber and deploys mainly toward the front of the vehicle. When the airbag is in the stowed state, the pre-push chamber forms the first folded part and the main chamber forms the second folded part. At the portion where the first folded part and the second folded part overlap, a sewn part joins the first folded part and at least a portion of the pre-chamber, and the sewn part is configured to break during deployment of the airbag.
SIDE AIRBAG
A side airbag that is configured to reduce risk of injury to a passenger by differentiating inner pressures in an airbag cushion at the beginning of a deployment of the airbag cushion. The side airbag includes a diffuser configured to supply gas discharged from an inflator to an inside of an airbag cushion, a separator partitioning an internal space of the airbag cushion up and down so that an upper region of the airbag cushion is more rapidly inflated than a lower region of the airbag cushion by the gas introduced into the airbag cushion through the diffuser, and a passage formed between the upper region and the lower region such that the gas flows between the upper region and the lower region.
