Precipitation detection

An amount and type of precipitation, and a speed of a vehicle is determined. A component in the vehicle is actuated based on the amount and type of precipitation, and the speed of the vehicle.

Variable sweep angle motor drive

A windshield wiper system for an aircraft is provided and includes a motor, an output shaft, a wrap spring and crank rocker mechanism (WSCRM) to which the motor and the output shaft are coupled and a controller. By way of the WSCRM, first directional rotation input to the WSCRM from the motor via a two-stage gear reduction is converted such that the output shaft drives wiper blade oscillation through a first sweep angle and second directional rotation input to the WSCRM from the motor is converted such that the output shaft drives wiper blade oscillation through a second sweep angle. The controller is configured to control the motor such that the first directional rotation is continuously or non-continuously input during first or second flight conditions, respectively, and the second directional rotation is continuously input during third flight conditions.

Control for passive wiper system

A system includes a dome, a wiper assembly, a position sensor and a control device. The wiper assembly includes a wiper blade configured to rotate around the dome. The position sensor may be configured to send a signal to a control device when a wiper blade passes the position sensor. The control device may include one or more processors configured to receive the signal from the position sensor and determine a location of the wiper blade relative to the dome based on the received signal.

Operation of vehicle window wipers based on perceived vehicle stops to drop off passengers

Systems, methods, and storage media for controlling wiper devices of a vehicle are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: remove, by one or more wiper devices, fluid or debris from viewing portals; generate output signals conveying passenger sensor information related to passenger actions; generate output signals conveying vehicle sensor information related to vehicle operations; determine, based on the output signal, the passenger sensor information; determine, based on the output signal, the vehicle sensor information; assess, based on the passenger sensor information or the vehicle sensor information, readiness of a passenger to depart the vehicle via an exit; and control, based on the readiness of the passenger to depart the vehicle via the exit, the one or more wiper devices.

Provided are a wiper intelligence control method and device. The a wiper intelligence control method includes following steps: an operation state of a wiper is switched to an automatic wiper operation state or a manual wiper operation state according to a received wiper operation state switch signal; when the wiper operates in the automatic wiper operation state, if a wiper movement speed adjustment signal output from a manual operation module is received, a current wiper movement speed is adjusted; when the wiper is switched from the automatic wiper operation state to the manual wiper operation state, the current wiper movement speed of the wiper is locked as the wiper movement speed in the manual wiper operation state; when the wiper operates in the manual wiper operation state, if the wiper movement speed adjustment signal output from the manual operation module is received, the current wiper movement speed is adjusted.

SENSOR-CLEANING APPARATUS

An apparatus includes a base, a cylindrical sensor window fixed to the base, and a helical cleaning member movable between a retracted position in the base and an extended position extending around the sensor window. The cleaning member includes an outlet directed at the sensor window when the cleaning member is in the extended position.

A wiper control device that includes: a current detection section that detects a flow of current through a coil of a wiper motor; an environmental information acquisition section that acquires a vehicle speed or a vehicle external air temperature as environmental information; and a control section that controls a drive circuit such that a torque of an output shaft that is estimated from the current detected by the current detection section becomes equal to or less than a base limit torque that corresponds to a rotation angle detected by a rotation angle detection section, and such that a torque of the output shaft becomes equal to or less than a base limit torque that is corrected according to environmental information acquired by the environmental information acquisition section.

Systems, vehicles, and methods for automatically deploying a windshield wiper blade to a deployed position

A system for automatically deploying a windshield wiper blade to a deployed position includes one or more processors, an actuator coupled to the windshield wiper blade and communicatively coupled to the one or more processors, one or more optical sensors communicatively coupled to the one or more processors that output an optical signal, and one or more memory modules communicatively coupled to the one or more processors. The one or more memory modules store logic that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to receive the optical signal output by the one or more optical sensors, detect whether an accumulation of a substance has formed on the vehicle based on the optical signal output by the one or more optical sensors, and deploy, with the actuator, the windshield wiper blade to the deployed position in response to detecting the accumulation of the substance.
