Mechanical Windshield Wiper Blade Wear System
Described is a wiper blade for a windshield of a vehicle. The wiper blade having a frame structure, a squeegee, a window, and a blade-wear system. The squeegee is coupled to the frame structure and includes a wiping lip. A window is positioned in or on the frame structure. A visual indicator transitions between a first position and a second position. The visual indicator is visible through the window when in the second position. The blade-wear system can be include an advancement mechanism, a gear train, and an indication mechanism. The advancement mechanism advances the gear train a predetermined amount to allow the indication mechanism to be viewable.
Vehicle diagnostics
Computing systems for vehicle diagnostics are provided. In accordance with some aspects, a computing system may receive, from a vehicle (e.g., from a computing device installed in and/or at the vehicle), a diagnostic code generated by an on-board diagnostic (OBD) system of the vehicle. The computing system may determine an issue with the vehicle based on the diagnostic code and may determine, based on the issue, a remedial action for addressing the issue and a timeframe for performing the remedial action. The computing system may store data identifying the issue, the remedial action, and the timeframe in a record associated with the vehicle.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CHECKING WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES
A device for checking a windshield wiper blade of a motor vehicle, includes an at least partially transparent body having a contact side which is designed for contacting with the windshield wiper blade to be checked; a light-incidence side which is designed to allow light to enter into the body; and a light-exit side. The at least partially transparent body is designed in such a way that light entering the body through the light-incidence side is reflected at least partially at the contact side, and reflected light exits the body through the light-exit side.
Method and apparatus for recognizing directional structures on a window pane of a vehicle
A method for recognizing directional structures on a window pane of a vehicle is described. The method includes carrying out an assessment of image points of an image of the window pane, which image points are disposed along an evaluation path, a course of the evaluation path being dependent on an expected orientation of the directional structures on the window pane. The method further includes recognizing a directional structure based on the assessment.
Method and device to assess the wear of a windshield wiper unit
Method to estimate the wear state of wiper blades (5) of a vehicle windshield wiper unit (1), said windshield wiper unit (1) comprising: at least one wiper blade (5) configured to wipe a windshield surface (S) when activated, at least one motor (7) configured to activate the at least one wiper blade (5), a controller (9) configured to control the at least one motor (7), comprising the steps: deriving a friction coefficient (B) between the at least one wiper blade (5) and the windshield surface (S), using the derived friction coefficient (B) to determine the wetness of the windshield surface (S), if the windshield surface (S) is dry, using the derived friction coefficient (B) to estimate the wear state of the at least one wiper blade (5).

OBSTRUCTION DETECTION FOR WIPER WEAR MONITORING
A vehicle includes a camera configured to capture images through a window of the vehicle, a window clearing system operable between a clearing operation and a cleaning operation, and includes a wiper configured to move along the window in the clearing operation and the cleaning operation, and an interface for manually activating the clearing operation. Control circuitry configured to detect an obstruction on the window based on the images, classify the obstruction as water or debris, detect manual operation of the wiper, determine a wear condition during manual operation of the wiper and based on classification of the obstruction as debris, and communicate a signal to indicate the wear condition.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING WINDSHIELD WIPER WEAR
Systems and methods for predicting windshield wiper wear are provided. The system may comprise a vehicle comprising a windshield wiper. The windshield wiper may comprise a windshield wiper blade. The system may comprise one or more environmental sensors configured to generate environmental data of an environment of the vehicle, and a computing device. The computing device may comprise a processor and a memory. The memory may be configured to store instructions that, when executed by the processor, are configured to cause the processor to receive the environmental data from the one or more environmental sensors and calculate wear of the windshield wiper blade based on the environmental data.
