Tethered Cap and Spout

Disclosed herein are tethered cap and spout combinations. The tethered cap and spout combinations prevent loss of the cap after opening. In an implementation, the tethered cap and spout combinations may provide mechanisms for puncturing or opening a seal that may be present at a throat or neck of the container which provides both an anti-tampering and freshness function. In an implementation, the tethered cap and spout combinations may provide anti-tampering mechanisms. In an implementation, the tethered cap and spout combinations may provide mechanisms to hold an opened and tethered cap away from the container opening during use.

Method of injection molding opening devices on sheet material for packaging pourable food products, and packaging material and package obtained thereby

A method of injection molding an opening device on sheet packaging material for packaging pourable food products; the packaging material has at least a first and a second layer, and an opening formed through the first layer and sealed by a cover portion of the second layer; the method includes the steps of injecting molten plastic material onto a first side of the cover portion of the second layer, feeding the molten plastic material along the cover portion to cover it on the first side, and feeding the molten plastic material through an annular peripheral portion of the cover portion to form a spout of the opening device projecting from a second side, opposite the first side, of the cover portion; the molten plastic material covers the cover portion to define, with the cover portion, a user-removable sealing portion of the spout.

Piercing fitment assembly for flexible container

A piercing fitment assembly for a thin film flexible container containing a liquid having (A) a spout assembly having a sealing flange sealed to the film of the flexible container and having positioned therein a circular piercing element with at least one piercing point in close proximity to the film of the flexible container; (B) a threaded plug fitted into the spout assembly and the bottom of the plug being sealed to the film of the flexible container; (C) a threaded collar positioned in the spout assembly and threadably engaged with the threaded exterior of the threaded plug; whereby when the threaded collar is moved to engage the threaded plug and the threaded plug is moved away from the film of the flexible container, the film of the flexible container is brought into contact with the piercing end of the piercing element and the film is pierced allowing the liquid from the container to flow out through the spout assembly and out of the flexible container.

Sheetlike Composite, Especially for Production of Dimensionally Stable Food and Drink Product Containers, Having a Roof Area Formed by a Multitude of Groove Lines Having Partly Convex Curvature
20240424762 · 2024-12-26 ·

The present invention relates to a sheetlike composite comprising, as mutually superposed layers, a) a carrier layer, b) a barrier layer, and c) an inner polymer layer,
wherein the sheetlike composite has a multitude of groove lines arranged and configured such that, by folding the sheetlike composite along the groove lines and joining seam areas of the sheetlike composite thereby obtaining seams, a closed container is obtainable, wherein the closed container has a roof area, wherein a first portion of the groove lines of the multitude of groove lines at least partly forms a circumference of a first part-area of the roof area, wherein the groove lines of the first portion, relative to the first part-area of the roof area, have at least partly convex curvature, wherein the first part-area of the roof area has a first length in a longitudinal direction and has a second length in a circumferential direction at right angles to the longitudinal direction, wherein a ratio of the first length to the second length is in a range from 0.2 to 2.0. The invention further relates to methods of producing a sheetlike composite, a container precursor and a closed container, and to the aforementioned method products; to a further container precursor; to a further closed container; and to a use of the sheetlike composite.

OPENING DEVICE FOR ASEPTIC CARTON PACKAGING USED FOR ENTERAL NUTRITION THROUGH CLOSED SYSTEM OR OPEN SYSTEM
20250011053 · 2025-01-09 ·

The present invention falls within the technical field of Food Packaging and was developed specifically to meet the needs of the Enteral Nutrition market. This innovation proposes a unique packaging solution, compatible with both Closed Enteral Systems and Open Enteral Systems. It is defined as an integrated opening device in the aseptic carton packaging, which allows direct connection to the enteral feeding set without the need for external devices (such as adapters and connectors). Thus, the invention transforms the conventional use of aseptic carton packagingpreviously limited to open enteral systemsinto a versatile, multi-use solution. Featuring characteristics equivalent to those of specialized packages for closed systems available in the market, this device, when incorporated into aseptic carton packaging, enables the contained product to be administered in both closed and open enteral systems. This is made possible by its features that allow direct connection to the enteral feeding set while provide the essential functionalities of traditional aseptic carton packaging, such as the rupture of the internal protective seal, which occurs when unscrewing the cap.

The invention relates to a self-opening closure with a pouring spout (12), a self-opening sleeve (20) which is guided in the connector in a helical manner, and a cover (30) which covers the pouring spout (12). A driver cam (24) is formed on the self-opening sleeve, said driver cam defining a guide surface (241). The cover has a driver (34) which defines a front edge (341). The front edge interacts with the guide surface of the driver cam. The front edge and the guide surface are inclined by the same angle of inclination relative to the longitudinal axis in order to allow an optimal force transmission between the cover and the self-opening sleeve. Additionally, the guide surface can be designed in a concave manner, and the front edge of the driver can be rounded in a corresponding manner in order to prevent a radial deflection of the driver towards the inside.
