PRESSURE CAN END COMPATIBLE WITH STANDARD CAN SEAMER

A can end including a center panel, an annular portion disposed about the center panel, a standard chuck wall disposed about the annular portion, and a curl extending radially outwardly from the standard chuck wall. The annular portion includes an enhanced annular countersink.

REVERSE PRESSURE CAN END

A can end includes a center panel, an annular portion disposed about the center panel, a chuck wall disposed about the annular portion, a curl extending radially outwardly from the chuck wall, the annular portion including an annular ridge and an annular countersink, the annular countersink disposed adjacent and about the annular ridge. The annular countersink and the annular ridge are structured to resist deformation from external or reverse pressure.

RESEALABLE CAN LID

The invention relates to a can lid of a conventional design, in particular intended for beverage cans, whose special feature comprises the fact that a substantially ring-shaped molded plastic part is fastened to the lower side of the lid surface surrounding the opening region to form an opening that is sealingly reclosable, in that a plastic stopper part is fixedly connected to the lower side of the tongue tab that is upwardly pivotable during the opening procedure and sealingly engages into the molded part, and in that the peripheral contour of the tongue tab is preferably disposed in the region of the molded part at a predefinable spacing from the stopper part.

CAN END WITH VENTING FEATURE

A metal end for seaming onto a metal container body. The end comprises an outer curl, a centre panel within the outer curl, and a tab having a longitudinal axis (A). The end further comprises a rivet securing the tab to the centre panel, and a score in the centre panel having two spaced apart ends which define a hinge therebetween, the hinge lying on one side of said longitudinal axis (A), such that operation of the tab fractures the score and causes the region of the centre panel within the score to pivot about the hinge and provide an aperture in the centre panel. The score extends into a region of the centre panel that is behind a centre line (B) running through the centre of the rivet and perpendicular to said longitudinal axis (A), and on the other side of the longitudinal axis (A) from the hinge.

Panel for a container, a container provided with such container and a method for making same

A panel for a container includes an outer edge to be connected to the container and a tab connected to the panel. The tab has a rear tab part for gripping by a user and a front tab part for engagement with the panel and forming an opening in the panel. The panel is provided with deformation means which structurally deform upon a transition of the panel into a convex shape and which locked in the deformed state urge the panel to a substantially flat or concave shape.

A metal container end (102) for a metal container (100) includes a center section (116) and a periphery section (118) extending along a periphery of the center section. The periphery section includes an edge (122) of the periphery section, and the edge (122) includes a contacting portion (126) and a non-contacting portion (130). The contacting portion (126) of the edge (122) extends at a non-zero angle (132) relative to the non-contacting portion (130) of the edge (122).

CAN SHELL AND DOUBLE-SEAMED CAN END

A drawn aluminum can shell has a peripheral crown which is double-seamed with an end portion of an aluminum can body to provide a can end having a generally flat center panel connected by an inclined curved or straight panel wall to an inclined inner wall of an annular U-shaped countersink. The countersink has an outer wall which connects with an inclined lower wall portion of a chuck wall at a junction below the center panel, and the chuck wall has a curved or inclined upper wall portion which connects with an inner wall of the crown. The chuck wall also has an intermediate wall portion forming a break, and the inner bottom width of the countersink is less than the radial width of the panel wall. The inclined upper wall portion of the chuck wall extends at an angle greater than the angle of the inclined lower wall portion of the chuck wall.

Beverage can end frangible score geometry

An ecology stay-on tab beverage can end has a first axis extending though a rivet. A tear panel is defined by a frangible score and a non-frangible hinge that joins a first end of the frangible score with a second end of the frangible score. The first axis forms a line of asymmetry of the tear panel. A second axis intersects the first axis at a right angle. An intersection of the first axis with the second axis defines a center point of a clock-like reference having a 12 o'clock position at the first point and a 6 o'clock position at the second point. A first radius of curvature of the frangible score between a 5 o'clock position and a 7 o'clock position is at least 3.6 times larger than a second radius of curvature between a 7 o'clock position and a 9 o'clock position.
