A system for real-time monitoring of insects includes a smart trap and an image processor. The smart trap includes a chamber with perforations sized to admit insects into an interior of the smart trap; a collection chamber located within the interior of the smart trap; and an imaging system for capturing images that include the collection chamber. The image processor is configured to receive images captured by the smart trap and to determine a count of insects within the collection chamber based on image analysis of the received image. Image analysis includes identifying a region within the received image corresponding with a boundary of the collection chamber, cropping the received image to the identified region to generate a cropped image, modifying at least one characteristic of the cropped image to generate a modified, cropped image, and determining a count of insects based on the modified, cropped image.

Volatile liquid dispensing system

Disclosed is a volatile liquid dispensing system that includes a dispenser and a refill unit. The dispenser is mounted on a predefined surface. The dispenser includes a front cover and a rear cover. The refill unit is removably secured inside the dispenser thereby maintaining a predefined gap therebetween. The refill unit includes a refill cover. The refill cover includes a fragrance reservoir and a collection device enclosed therein. The fragrance reservoir is formed by a gas shell and a fragrance shell. The fragrance reservoir is positioned in a predefined orientation with respect to the mounting surface. The collection device is positioned adjacent to the fragrance reservoir such that a predefined gap is maintained therebetween. The collection device is enclosed in the refill cover such that a predefined gap is maintained therebetween thereby allowing evaporation of the volatile liquid from all sides of the collection device.

INSECT TRAP DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING

An insect trap is provided. The insect trap includes a trap portion and a base portion. The trap portion includes an enclosure with an adhesive surface and a first opening, wherein the adhesive surface is at least partially contained within the enclosure and is configured to adhere to an insect. The base portion includes a lighting element and a mounting portion, wherein the lighting element is configured to provide light to the trap portion and wherein the mounting portion is configured to communicate with and receive power from a power source. The trap portion is configured to removably engage the base portion and receive light from the base portion when engaged therewith. The base portion includes a snap protrusion and the trap portion includes a snap recess for receiving the snap protrusion, wherein when the snap protrusion is received by the trap portion, the base portion and trap portion are engaged in a snap fit.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED AND SEMI-AUTOMATED MOSQUITO SEPARATION IDENTIFICATION COUNTING AND POOLING
20230064414 · 2023-03-02 · ·

A method of separating a batch of insects from a trap into individual insects comprises pouring the batch into a container having at least one hole, the hole being sized for a single insect; and moving the container to shake the insects within so that individual insects are caused to exit via the hole onto a collecting surface, thereby providing separated insects onto the collecting surface. The insects from the trap may then be counted and image recognition may be used to identify the genus, species or gender. The process may be carried out for multiple traps and location data may be stored with the insect identifications to give a map of insect distribution.
