Paper pickup mechanism
A paper pickup mechanism includes a mechanical frame, a pickup roller module, a feeding roller module, a driving device, a separation roller module and an energy storage element. The mechanical frame has a platform. The pickup roller module is pivoted to and connected to the mechanical frame. The feeding roller module is pivoted to and connected to the mechanical frame. The driving device is mounted to the mechanical frame. The separation roller module is pivoted to and connected to the mechanical frame. The energy storage element is mounted between the mechanical frame and the separation roller module. When the separation roller module rotates together with the feeding roller module in a forward direction, the energy storage element accumulates energies. When more than one piece of paper is fed into the paper pickup mechanism, the energy storage element releases the energies.
Position switching mechanism for document conveyance device
A document conveyance device includes a feed roller, a separation roller, a first motor for generating a first drive force for driving the separation roller, a planet gear, a drive gear, a second motor for generating a second drive force, and a position switching mechanism for switching a position of the planet gear from a first position in which the planet gear is separated from the drive gear and does not transmit the first drive force to the separation roller to a second position in which the planet gear engages with the drive gear and transmits the first drive force to the separation roller, based on the second drive force. The position switching mechanism includes a support member for supporting the planet gear, and a transfer mechanism for moving the support member so that the planet gear engages with the drive gear, based on the second drive force. The further movement of the planet gear is prevented after the planet gear engaged with the drive gear.
MEDIUM CONVEYING APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING FEEDING A MEDIUM
A medium conveying apparatus includes a feed roller, a brake roller, a motor to generate a driving force, a first transmission mechanism to transmit the driving force to the brake roller through a first torque limiter, to rotate the brake roller in a direction opposite to a medium feeding direction, a second transmission mechanism to transmit the driving force to the brake roller through a second torque limiter, bypassing the first torque limiter, to rotate the brake roller in the direction opposite to the medium feeding direction, and a processor to detect media multi-feed, and perform control in such a way as to transmit the driving force to the brake roller by the second transmission mechanism and also cause the feed roller to be driven to rotate in the direction opposite to the medium feeding direction by the brake roller, when the media multi-feed is detected.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS
A scanner includes a reading unit that reads an image of a paper, a medium feeding portion that is capable of selecting a first feeding mode in which a separation feeding for separately feeding a paper bundle in which a plurality of sheets of paper is overlapped with each other is performed and a second feeding mode in which a non-separation feeding for collectively feeding the paper bundle without separating is performed, and a pair of first transporting rollers and a pair of second transporting rollers that transport the paper fed by the medium feeding portion, in a case in which the medium feeding portion feeds the paper in the second feeding mode, a first driven roller and a second driven roller respectively constituting the pair of first transporting rollers and the pair of second transporting rollers are driven in a rotation direction where the paper is transported.
MEDIUM TRANSPORTING DEVICE, IMAGE READING APPARATUS, AND TRANSPORTING CONTROL METHOD
There is provided a medium transporting device including: a medium placement section on which a medium is placed, a feeding roller feeding a medium from the medium placement section, a motion detection sensor detects a motion of a medium, and a controller that stops feeding of a medium based on a detection value received from the motion detection sensor, in which the motion detection sensor is a two-dimensional sensor including a light emitting section and a light receiving section and detecting a motion of a medium, the medium placement section is provided with a placement detector that acquires information relating to a presence/absence of a medium on the medium placement section, and the controller sets a state of the light emitting section to a non-light emitting state when detection information of the placement detector indicates that a medium is absent on the medium placement section.
MEDIUM TRANSPORT APPARATUS, IMAGE READING APPARATUS, AND TRANSPORT CONTROL METHOD
A medium transport apparatus includes: a feed unit feeds a medium to a transport direction; a first detection unit disposed upstream of the feed unit, and detects movement of the fed medium; a second detection unit disposed downstream of the first detection unit and detects an inclination of the medium; and a control unit detects the inclination of the medium based on a signal of the second detection unit and stop transfer of the medium when the inclination exceeds a threshold value, and the plurality of the threshold values have a relationship such that when a medium length in the transport direction is a second length being shorter than a first length, a relatively higher value is produced than in a case in which the medium length is the first length, and the control unit selects a threshold value based on a detection value of the first detection unit.
Medium feeding device, image reading apparatus, and recording apparatus
A medium feeding device includes an imaging unit which images a medium tip end portion from a position of facing a face of the medium on a downstream side of a nipping position of the medium using a feeding unit and a separating unit; and a determining unit which determines whether or not there is transport disorder by evaluating a state of a boundary between a path member which forms a medium transport path and a medium tip end from image data obtained by the imaging unit, in which the determining unit sets a rectangular determining region including at least a part of the boundary with respect to the image data, and determines whether or not there is transport disorder based on a length of a boundary in the determining region.

A friction sheet feeding machine is provided. The friction sheet feeding machine comprises a hopper configured to hold a stack of items. The friction sheet feeding machine also comprises a receiver configured to receive an item from the stack of items. The friction sheet feeding machine also comprises a separating mechanism configured to separate the item from the stack of items. The separating mechanism comprises a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism is configured to operate in a forward direction and a reverse direction. The friction sheet feeding machine also comprises a controller configured to generate signals to the drive mechanism to operate in the forward direction for a first period of time, and in the reverse direction for a second period of time.
