Apparatus and method for transferring data between a fuel providing means and a vehicle for the prevention of misfuelling
09650235 · 2017-05-16 · ·

An apparatus and method for distinguishing the correct type of fuel to be disposed in a vehicle (4) is provided. The apparatus includes an RFID tag (40) disposed on one of a vehicle (4) or a fuel providing means (2), and a radio receiving means (42) disposed on the other of the vehicle (4) or fuel providing means (2). A signal, indicative of a type of fuel, is emitted by the RFID tag (40) and compared with a predetermined radio signal stored in a storage means (41), and a warning is generated on the basis of a determination of correspondence between the detected radio signal and predetermined radio signal. The present invention therefore provides a safe and reliable system that removes or reduces human decision from a refuelling process, and ensures the correct fuel is provided to the vehicle (4).

Icebreaker activities using an intelligent beverage container

Systems, devices, and methods are provided for conducting a social interaction. A first user account may be associated with a first beverage container. A second beverage container may be detected as being proximate to the first beverage container. A second user account associated with the second beverage container may be accessed to identify a commonality between the first and second user accounts. The commonality may be objective and/or subjective information or data about the users of the first and second beverage containers. Information indicative of the commonality may be displayed on an electronic display of at least one of the beverage containers. The electronic display may be flexible such that it conforms to a curvature of the beverage container.

Liquid handling system with electronic information storage

An electronic storage device is coupled with a container capable of holding liquid for electronically storing information relating to the liquid stored in the container. The system can be configured with an antenna, for storing information to and reading information from the electronic storage device. A microprocessor-based controller, coupled with the antenna, may be employed for controlling processing of the liquid based on information read from the electronic storage device by the antenna. A connector of a secure reader system having a reader is provided to physically couple to a container having an information storing mechanism, for periodically reading information from an information storing mechanism. The connector may draw material from the container simultaneous with the reading.

Monitoring powered assets for fueling using geofences

Systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products are provided for monitoring powered assets for fueling. For example, in one embodiment, a fuel server can monitor the location of powered assets and fueling units. In response to determining, for example, that a powered asset that needs fuel is within a predetermined geofence defined around a fueling unit, the powered asset can emit a perceivable indication. The powered asset can then be authenticated for receiving fuel from the fueling unit.

Fuel distribution system and method

A system and method for distributing fuel, managing fuel transactions, and determining fuel pricing. The system includes a fuel tank and dispensing systems connected thereto for serving customers. The dispensing systems include a meter measuring a volume of dispensed fuel and a data subsystem that transmits transaction data for fueling transactions completed during a first period. A tank gauge measures an ending volume of fuel at the end of the first period. A management system uses the transaction data to generate a usage report and invoice for the customers based on fuel usage during the first period. The management system further monitors the gauge and determines a price for the ending volume of fuel and a variance based on the measured ending volume of fuel and an expected volume. The variance is used to determine a second price for fueling transactions completed during a second period following the first period.

SECURING PRODUCT STORAGE TANKS AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED DELIVERY

A system and method prevent product-type contamination in a bulk liquid storage tank. A control unit receives an indication of a storage product type in the bulk storage and a delivery product type in the tanker truck. The control unit compares the delivery product type with the storage product type and controls delivery based on a result of the comparison.

SYSTEM AND FUEL NOZZLE FOR VEHICLE REFUELING

Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and associated smart fuel nozzle for improved fuel delivery to a vehicle. In particular, the smart fuel nozzle which can be in communication with a network including one or more of a fuel service provider, a courier's smart device, an user's device having an App, and in some embodiments, a vehicle's onboard computer/associated smart device. According to some aspects, the smart fuel nozzle can be used for controlled and monitored fuel delivery by a courier at the vehicle's location. According to some aspects, the ability to monitor the fuel being delivered can ensure proper delivery, quality of fuel, safe delivery, and automated order processing and/or confirmation.

A distribution station includes a mobile trailer, a pump on the mobile trailer, first and second manifolds on the mobile trailer and fluidly connected with the pump, a plurality of hoses, a plurality of reels, a plurality of valves, and a plurality of fluid level sensors. The hoses are connected with the reels. A portion of the reels are connected with the first manifold and another portion of the reels are connected with the second manifold. Each of the valves is situated between one of the first or second manifolds and a respective different one of the hoses. Each of the fluid level sensors is associated with a respective different one of the hoses. The reels are arranged on first and second opposed sides in the mobile trailer, with an aisle walkway down the middle of the mobile trailer.

Systems and methods for fuel dispenser security
09580295 · 2017-02-28 · ·

Systems and methods for fuel dispenser security are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a user seeking access to a protected function of the fuel dispenser is presented with a challenge that is encrypted using a secret key that is unique to the fuel dispenser. To access the secured function, the user must obtain a session password from a server which authenticates the user, decrypts the challenge using a counterpart of the secret key, determines whether the user is authorized to access the secured function, and returns the session password extracted from the challenge only when the user is authorized. The server can thus control access to certain fuel dispenser functions according to a set of user access privileges. The challenge can also include additional information which can be used by the fuel dispenser and/or by the server to store a log of access activity.

Computer program and method for verifying container of material to be dispensed
09580294 · 2017-02-28 · ·

A system for verifying a container of a material before the material is transferred to a process. The system includes a conduit that extends through a mouth of the container. The conduit is supported by an arm that moves between a first position in which the conduit extends through the mouth, and a second position in which the conduit is removed and moved away from the mouth. A reading device extracts information about the container from an information storage element. A computer program receives input regarding the extracted information, receives input regarding the process, and determining whether the container is correct for the process. The program prevents the arm from moving to the first position, and only if the container is determined to be correct does the program allow the arm to move to the first position so that the material can be transferred.
