NAPHTHA COMPLEX WITH THERMAL OXIDATION SYSTEM
A process for treating effluent streams in a naphtha complex is described. One or more of the sour water stripping unit for the NHT sour water from the NHT, the amine treatment unit and the caustic treatment unit for the NHT stripper off-gas, the caustic scrubber unit or other chloride treatment unit for the off-gas from the C.sub.5-C.sub.6 isomerization zone and the C.sub.4 isomerization zone, and the caustic scrubber unit or other chloride treatment unit for the regenerator off-gas are replaced with a thermal oxidation system.
A PROCESS FOR THE OXIDATION OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE TO SULFUR TRIOXIDE WITH SUBSEQUENT SULFUR REMOVAL AND A PLANT FOR CARRYING OUT THE PROCESS
A process for the oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to sulfur trioxide with subsequent sulfur trioxide removal comprises oxidizing hydrogen sulfide to sulfur trioxide in at least one catalyst-containing reactor and feeding the effluent from the last reactor to a candle filter unit for SO.sub.3 removal, where it is mixed with an injected alkaline sorbent slurry or powder to form an alkali sulfate and a hot clean gas. Preferably the oxidation is done in two reactors, the first oxidizing H.sub.2S to SO.sub.2 over a monolith type catalyst and the second oxidizing SO.sub.2 to SO.sub.3 over a VK type catalyst.
GAS TREATMENT PROCESS AND APPARATUS
A process for cleaning process gas removes sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter (PM) to produce a tail gas substantially free of these pollutants. The process oxidizes and absorbs SOx and NOx for storage as liquid acids. In some embodiments a PM removal stage and/or a SOx removal stage are provided in a close-coupled higher-pressure environment upstream from a turbocharger turbine. The process has example application in cleaning exhaust gases from industrial processes and large diesel engines such as ship engines.
RENEWABLE TRANSPORTATION FUEL PROCESS WITH THERMAL OXIDATION SYSEM
A process for treating effluent streams in a renewable transportation fuel production process is described. One or more of the sour water stream and an acid gas stream are treated directly in thermal oxidation section. The process allows the elimination or size reduction of a sour water stripper unit, waste water treatment plant, and sulfur recovery unit.
SO.SUB.x .capture using carbonate absorbent
A desulfurization gas process includes water vapor, CO.sub.2 and SO.sub.x (x=2 and/or 3). In a treatment unit, the gas contacts a cooled alkaline aqueous solution having a temperature lower than an initial gas temperature, water and a carbonate of an alkali metal, to cool the gas, condense some water vapor and absorb SO.sub.x in the carbonate-containing solution, produce an SO.sub.x-depleted gas and an acidic aqueous solution including sulfate and/or sulfite ions. The SO.sub.x-depleted gas and a portion of the acidic aqueous solution can then be withdrawn from the treatment unit. Carbonate of the alkali metal can be added to remaining acidic aqueous solution to obtain a made-up alkaline aqueous solution. This solution can be cooled and reused as the cooled alkaline aqueous solution. An SO.sub.x absorbent solution includes a bleed stream from a CO.sub.2-capture process, sodium or potassium carbonate, and an acidic aqueous solution obtained from desulfurization.
Chemical sequestering of CO2, NOx and SO2
The disclosure provides seven integrated methods for the chemical sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO.sub.2) (collectively NO.sub.x, where x=1, 2) and sulfur dioxide (SO.sub.2) using closed loop technology. The methods recycle process reagents and mass balance consumable reagents that can be made using electrochemical separation of sodium chloride (NaCl) or potassium chloride (KCl). The technology applies to marine and terrestrial exhaust gas sources for CO.sub.2, NOx and SO.sub.2. The integrated technology combines compatible and green processes that capture and/or convert CO.sub.2, NOx and SO.sub.2 into compounds that enhance the environment, many with commercial value.
Lime hydrate with improved reactivity via additives
Systems and Methods to produce a lime hydrate sorbent composition formed of highly reactive lime hydrate (HRH) by adding compounds to the slaking water in a method that would produce a non-HRH, which will typically be a lime hydrate having citric acid reactivity as discussed above of more than ten seconds, to make the non-HRH an HRH, which is having a citric acid reactivity of less than or equal to ten seconds.
METHOD AND INSTALLATION FOR REMOVING A GAS FROM A FLOW OF A GAS MIXTURE
A method and installation for removing a gas from a flow of a gas mixture. A first liquid (82) is introduced in the flow (106) for evoporative cooling and saturation of the gas mixture. Small droplets of a second liquid (84) are provided which are capable of adsorbing and dissolving said gas and of a size small enough not to be sedimented by gravitation and big enough to be centrifugally separated. The small droplets are sprayed into the flow for adsorbing and dissolving said gas into the droplets, and the small droplets are centrifugally separated from the flow.
Method for scrubbing exhaust gas from CO2 and/or SOx
A method of exhaust gas scrubbing includes providing recycled concrete fines as a waste material rich in carbonatable Ca and/or Mg phases and with d.sub.90≤1000 μm and a Rosin-Rammler slope n from 0.6 to 1.4 , injecting the waste material into an exhaust gas stream containing CO.sub.2 and/or SO.sub.x for reaction with CO.sub.2 and/or SO.sub.x at a relative humidity of 50 to 100 Vol.-% and a temperature from 40 to 130° C. in an amount of dry waste material ranging from 5 to 30 kg/m.sup.3, withdrawing a partly carbonated and/or sulphurized waste material and purified exhaust gas, and recycling a part of the partly carbonated and sulphurized waste material while the remainder is discharged, as well as use of a waste material slurry for exhaust gas cleaning of CO.sub.2 and/or SO.sub.x.
Method for aluminum-enhanced dealkalization of red mud and separation and recovery of aluminum and iron
The present invention discloses a method for aluminum-enhanced dealkalization of red mud and separation and recovery of aluminum and iron. The method includes: dissolving red mud in water, introducing excessive SO.sub.2, introducing O.sub.2 for aeration, and refluxing part of alkaline leachate after filtering; when pH of a red mud mixture decreases to below 3, washing and filtering the red mud mixture, adding NaOH to acidic leachate to adjust its pH to a strongly alkaline level, aging and filtering the leachate, treating filter residue to recover Fe.sub.2O.sub.3, and refluxing part of alkaline leachate after filtering to the red mud mixture; and adjusting pH of the remaining alkaline leachate after filtering to a weakly acidic level, and conducting filtering to recover aluminum.
