In one aspect, catalyst modules are described herein comprises structural catalyst bodies having cross-sectional flow channel geometries and surface features for enhanced catalytic activity. In some embodiments, the catalyst modules and associated structural catalyst bodies are suitable for use in high particulate matter environments. Briefly, a catalyst module comprises a framework and a plurality of structural catalyst bodies positioned in the framework, a structural catalyst body comprising an outer peripheral wall and a plurality of inner partition walls forming individual flow channels of rectangular cross-section, the outer peripheral wall resistant to localized flexural failures induced by material between adjacent structural catalyst bodies of the module.

Cyclonic injector and method for reagent gasification and decomposition in a hot gas stream

A system for vaporizing and optionally decomposing a reagent, such as aqueous ammonia or urea, which is useful for NOx reduction, includes a cyclonic decomposition duct, wherein the duct at its inlet end is connected to an air inlet port and a reagent injection lance. The air inlet port is in a tangential orientation to the central axis of the duct. The system further includes a metering valve for controlling the reagent injection rate. A method for vaporizing and optionally decomposing a reagent includes providing a cyclonic decomposition duct which is connected to an air inlet port and an injection lance, introducing hot gas through the air inlet port in a tangential orientation to the central axis of the duct, injecting the reagent axially through the injection lance into the duct; and adjusting the reagent injection rate through a metering valve.

Process and device for the purification of waste gas

For the purification of waste gas containing carbon compounds and nitrogen oxides by means of a regenerative post-combustion system, at least two regenerators (A, B, C) filled with heat accumulator bodies (7a, 7b, 7c) and connected by a combustion chamber (10) are provided, wherein the waste gas is alternately heated in a regenerator (A, B, C), the carbon compounds are oxidised in the combustion chamber (10), and, with the addition of a nitrogen-hydrogen compound, the nitrogen oxides are reduced in the combustion chamber (10) thermally and thus not catalytically. Remaining nitrogen oxides are removed by means of a catalytically active heat accumulator layer (6a, 6b, 6c) and the addition of a further nitrogen-hydrogen compound in the regenerator (A, B, C) from which the clean gas exits.

EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING CATALYST

This exhaust gas purifying catalyst is provided with a substrate 10 and a catalyst layer 20 formed on a surface of the substrate 10. The catalyst layer 20 contains zeolite particles 22 that support a metal, and a rare earth element-containing compound 24 that contains a rare earth element. The rare earth element-containing compound 24 is added in such an amount that the molar ratio of the rare earth element relative to Si contained in the zeolite 22 is 0.001 to 0.014 in terms of oxides.

Disclosed is a dual pressure plant for the production of nitric acid on the basis of the oxidation of ammonia. The plant comprises a reactor configured to produce a burner gas stream; a gas cooling section configured to form a cooled burner gas; a condensation section configured to form an aqueous nitric acid condensate and an uncondensed nitrogen oxides gas stream; an absorption section configured to produce raw nitric acid and a tail gas; and a tail gas treatment system configured to form a purified tail gas. In a tail gas heating section a further heat exchanger configured to receive heat from the burner gas stream, said further heat exchanger being positioned relatively close to the reactor.

A process for reducing nitrogen oxides in an exhaust stream, such as a vehicle exhaust stream, and apparatus for carrying out the process. The process comprises providing a first composition comprising aqueous urea, a second composition comprising ammonium carbamate and an exhaust stream comprising nitrogen oxides. A process for producing the ammonium carbamate is also provided. The second composition may be introduced into the exhaust stream (10) when the exhaust stream has a temperature below a threshold temperature and the first composition may be introduced into the exhaust stream when the exhaust stream has a temperature at or above the threshold temperature.

A system for use in selective catalytic reduction reactor is disclosed. The system may include a catalyst bed and a screen located close to the catalyst bed in a manner so that flow of flue gas to the catalyst bed contacts the screen before it contacts the catalyst bed. The screen may be adapted to support a weight of at least 400 pounds above the catalyst bed so that the weight is not imposed on the catalyst. The screen may have a plurality of holes across its surface in a manner so that the screen is adapted to change the velocity distribution of the flue gas as it flows through the screen.
