Catalyst structure
Provided is a catalyst structure which prevents an increase in pressure loss by a simple construction while the gas flow is efficiently stirred by a structure making contact between adjacent catalyst elements. The catalyst structure is provided with a first flat-plate part and a second flat-plate part which support, on surfaces thereof, a constituent having catalytic activity to an exhaust gas and face each other, and a stirring part which is provided in such a manner as to come into contact first with the first flat-plate part and the second flat-plate part in an extending manner from the first flat-plate part to the second flat-plate part at a prescribed angle with respect to the direction in which the exhaust gas flows.
CATALYST MODULES AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
In one aspect, catalyst modules and catalytic reactors are provided which, in some embodiments, mitigate inefficiencies and/or problems associated with fluid stream pressure drop A catalyst module comprises a layer of structural catalyst bodies arranged in a pleated format, the structural catalyst bodies forming pleat inlet faces and pleat outlet faces, wherein fluid flow channels defined by inner partition walls of the structural catalyst bodies extend from the pleat inlet faces to the pleat outlet faces. The pleat inlet faces form an angle (δ) with an inlet face of the module.
Catalyst system for the reduction of NOx and NH3 emissions
This catalyst system simultaneously removes ammonia and enhances net NOx conversion by placing an NH.sub.3-SCR catalyst formulation downstream of a lean NOx trap. By doing so, the NH.sub.3-SCR catalyst adsorbs the ammonia from the upstream lean NOx trap generated during the rich pulses. The stored ammonia then reacts with the NOx emitted from the upstream lean NOx trap-enhancing the net NOx conversion rate significantly, while depleting the stored ammonia. By combining the lean NOx trap with the NH.sub.3-SCR catalyst, the system allows for the reduction or elimination of NH.sub.3 and NOx slip, reduction in NOx spikes and thus an improved net NOx conversion during lean and rich operation.
Exhaust Gas Purifying Catalyst
