Electric Grid for Killing Insects
A copper grid which is attached to a rigid, non-conductive substrate, and configured to be connected to a voltage source such that the grid is electrified for the purpose of controlling insect populations.
Portable Light and Insect Extermination Device
A handheld lighting apparatus is disclosed having a top housing coupled to a first light source and an electrical grid configured to distribute a quantity of electricity to an object that contacts adjacent portions of the grid. The top housing is slidably mounted to a bottom housing having a cavity therein, the cavity being configured to receive the electrical grid assembly therein. The first light source emits light ranging from about 400 nm to about 720 nm in a first mode and light ranging from about 315 nm to about 400 nm in a second mode. A second light source is disposed about the bottom housing configured to propagate light in a direction that is parallel to a longitudinal direction of the lighting apparatus.
METHOD FOR SEX SORTING OF MOSQUITOES AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Method and apparatus for mechanical sex-sorting of mosquitoes by extracting a class of mosquitoes from unsorted mosquitoes comprises obtaining unsorted mosquitoes, obtaining images of individual mosquitoes in a stationary phase, electronically classifying the individuals from the images into male mosquitoes and/or female mosquitoes, and possibly also unclassified objects; obtaining co-ordinates of individuals of at least one of the male mosquito and female mosquito classifications, and using a robot arm to reach an individual identified by the obtained coordinates to store or remove the individuals, thereby to provide sex-sorted mosquitoes.
Solar powered lighting element with simulated flame and electrical insect eliminator
A solar powered lighting element with a simulated flame and an electric insect eliminator includes a lighting portion with a conducting grid and a light portion that simulates a flickering flame which are powered by a rechargeable battery that is recharged using a solar panel. One or more UV light elements are provided in addition to the flickering flame to attract insects.

ELECTROSTATIC PROBE FOR HANDLING OR POSITIONING AN INSECT SPECIMEN
An electrostatic probe for positioning an insect specimen is disclosed herein. The electrostatic probe may include an ion generator, a handling end, and a controller. The controller may be configured to: activate the ion generator to produce a electrostatic field at the handling end, wherein the electrostatic field is to attract a specimen to the handling end or hold the insect specimen at the handling end, and discharge the electrostatic field to cause the insect specimen to be released from the handling end.
INDUCTION SYSTEM FOR PRODUCT AUTHENTICATION
A system to verify product authenticity includes a transceiver configured to receive information regarding one or more pieces of ferromagnetic material that are in or on a product. The system also includes an electromagnetic radiation source configured to emit radiation to heat the one or more pieces of ferromagnetic material in or on the product. The system also includes a heat sensor configured to detect heat emitted from the one or more pieces of ferromagnetic material that are in or on the product. The system further includes a processor in communication with the transceiver, the electromagnetic radiation source, and the heat sensor. The processor is configured to determine if the product is counterfeit based on the received information and the detected heat.
