Tail gas treatment catalyst, preparation method therefor and use thereof

Disclosed in the present invention is a tail gas treatment catalyst. The catalyst consists of a carrier, a first catalyst, and a second catalyst. The first catalyst and the second catalyst are provided on both ends of the carrier. The first catalyst can purify pollutants in tail gas. The second catalyst can purify a byproduct, ammonia, obtained by the purification by the first catalyst and pollutants that are not completely purified by the first catalyst. The second catalyst is of a double-layer structure; the lower layer consists of an oxygen storage material, aluminum oxide, and a second active component; the second active component is a composition of Pt and Pd, or a composition of Ce, Fe, Ni and Cu; the upper layer consists of a molecular sieve and a third active component; the third active component is Cu or a composition of Cu and Fe. The tail gas treatment catalyst of the present invention has high purification treatment efficiency, and can significantly reduce the emissions of CH.sub.4, CO, and NO.sub.x in the tail gas, especially reduce the content of the byproduct, NH.sub.3, so that the tail gas can meet China VI emission standards.

Iron-loaded small pore aluminosilicate zeolites and method of making metal loaded small pore aluminosilicate zeolites

The present invention provides an iron-loaded aluminosilicate zeolite having a maximum pore opening defined by eight tetrahedral atoms and having the framework type CHA, AEI, AFX, ERI or LTA, wherein the iron (Fe) is present in a range of from about 0.5 to about 5.0 wt. % based on the total weight of the iron-loaded aluminosilicate zeolite, wherein an ultraviolet-visible absorbance spectrum of the iron-loaded synthetic aluminosilicate zeolite comprises a band at approximately 280 nm, wherein a ratio of an integral, peak-fitted ultraviolet-visible absorbance signal measured in arbitrary units (a.u.) for the band at approximately 280 nm to an integral peak-fitted ultraviolet-visible absorbance signal measured in arbitrary units (a.u.) for a band at approximately 340 nm is >about 2. The present invention further provides a method of making an metal-loaded aluminosilicate zeolite having a maximum pore opening defined by eight tetrahedral atoms from pre-existing aluminosilicate zeolite crystallites, wherein the metal is present in a range of from 0.5 to 5.0 wt. % based on the total weight of the metal-loaded aluminosilicate zeolite.

A catalyst may include a metallic function derived from a metal constrained within cages and/or channels of a microporous material, wherein the cages and/or channels of the microporous material are defined by 8 tetrahedral atoms or fewer; and an acidic function derived from an additional zeolite having cages and/or channels defined by 10 or more tetrahedral atoms, wherein the microporous material providing the metallic function and additional zeolite providing the acidic function are coupled by a binder.

Stable small-pore zeolites

The present invention provides crystalline aluminosilicate zeolites having a maximum pore size of eight tetrahedral atoms, wherein the zeolite has a total proton content of less than 2 mmol per gram. The zeolite may comprise 0.1 to 10 wt.-% of at least one transition metal, calculated as the respective oxide and based on the total weight of the zeolite. It may furthermore comprise at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal in a concentration of 0 to 2 wt.-%, calculated as the respective metal and based on the total weight of the zeolite. The zeolites may be used for the removal of NOx from automotive combustion exhaust gases.

Hydrocarbon (HC) traps are disclosed. The HC trap may include a first zeolite material having an average pore diameter of at least 5.0 angstroms and configured to trap hydrocarbons from an exhaust stream and to release at least a portion of the trapped hydrocarbons at a temperature of at least 225° C. The HC trap may also include a second zeolite material having an average pore diameter of less than 5.0 angstroms or larger than 7.0 angstroms. One or both of the zeolite materials may include metal ions, such as transition, Group 1A, or platinum group metals. The HC trap may include two or more discrete layers of zeolite materials or the two or more zeolite materials may be mixed. The multiple zeolite HC trap may form coke molecules having a relatively low combustion temperature, such as below 500° C.

METHOD

The present disclosure relates to a method for forming a catalyst article comprising: (a) forming a slurry having a solids content of up to 50 wt % by mixing together at least the following components a crystalline molecular sieve in an H.sup.+ or NH.sub.4.sup.+ form, an insoluble active metal precursor and an aqueous solvent at a temperature in the range 10 to 35° C.; (b) coating a substrate with the slurry formed in step (a); and (c) calcining the coated substrate formed in step (b) to form a catalyst layer on the substrate. The present disclosure further relates to a catalyst article, particularly a catalyst article which is suitable for use in the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides, and to an exhaust system.

Method

A method for modifying the surface of a molecular sieve, comprising reacting a molecular sieve with an aminosilane, wherein the reaction is carried out in an aqueous solvent. A modified molecular sieve obtained by the method is also described.

The present invention further relates to the method of production of methanol, the catalyst for production of methanol by direct oxidation of methane, and to a method of production thereof.
