Systems, devices, controllers, and methods for use in the treatment of a pipeline

System and method for decommissioning a pipeline. The system comprises a mechanical assembly and a chemical assembly. The mechanical assembly includes a main body and a contact assembly. When the mechanical assembly is provided in the pipeline, the contact assembly is configurable to contact with the interior wall of the pipeline. The chemical assembly is arranged serially in line with the mechanical assembly. The chemical assembly includes a front section having a cross-sectional portion configurable to resemble the cross-section of the pipeline and a rear section having a cross-sectional portion. The front and the rear section are arranged in such a way that, when the chemical assembly is provided in the pipeline, the cross-sectional portions of the front and the rear section cooperate with the interior wall of the pipeline to form a chamber operable to receive and house a removal medium. The system and the method can effectively and efficiently remove most or all of such residual mercury and/or other toxic substance from the interior wall of the pipeline before abandonment.

Tube cleaning dart having blades

A dart assembly for cleaning tubes including at least one annular disk having a first end, a second end, an outer perimeter and at least one longitudinal groove in the outer perimeter extending from the first end to the second end and at least one cutting wheel. The cutting wheel is positioned within the groove such that a portion of the cutting wheel extends into the groove and a portion extends beyond the outer perimeter of the annular disk. The dart assembly may also include at least one scraper disk and the annular disk and the scraper disk may be positioned at opposite ends of a shaft. Also, a method of cleaning a tube where a dart assembly is inserted into the inner diameter of the tube and forced through the tube using pressurized fluid. The dart assembly may have any or all of the features described above.

Seal element for a pipeline pig

A seal element is provided for a pipeline pig, which is transferable from a propulsion position into a sealing position. T in which the seal element presses against an inside of a pipeline wall. The seal element has at least one preferably ring-shaped hollow body, which can be filled with fluid and emptied. The seal element is transferable between propulsion position and sealing position.

PIPELINE PIG WITH PRESSURE-EQUALIZING TRANSMITTER CAVITY SYSTEM

Embodiments of a pipeline pig (10) of this disclosure and method of its use include a pressure-equalizing transmitter cavity system. Excluding sensors(S) and other electronic circuitry, the pipeline pig may be an all polyurethane pig. A plug (15) located at the rearward end (41) of the transmitter cavity (13) includes a passageway (25) that permits pipeline product to flow into the transmitter cavity. The plug is received by a flange (17) which may have a different harness than that of the plug. When in an intended use, the pipeline pig is inserted into the pipeline at one end and retrieved from the pipeline at another end. As the pipeline pig traverses the pipeline under differential pressure, pipeline pressure and temperature data may be collected and the location of the pipeline pig may be tracked. Pressure within the transmitter cavity is equalized with that of the pipeline product flow.

Systems for maintaining a functional line for conveying fluid and pig assemblies for use therein

Disclosed is a pig assembly for maintaining a multi-diameter functional line with a large range of diameter variation for conveying fluid. The pig assembly includes a central shaft having a first shaft end and a second shaft end and at least one cylindrical pig body coaxially mounted on the central shaft. Attached to the at least one pig body are a plurality of arms capable of moving between an extended position radiating from the at least one pig body and a retracted position within the at least one pig body. Each of the pluralities of arms includes a spring to enable each arm of the plurality of arms to move into the extended position and to store potential energy when the arm is in the retracted position, and a roller to enable rolling contact between the pig assembly and an interior of a functional line during movement of the pig assembly within the functional line. The pig assembly further includes at least one set of a plurality of scraper elements located along the central shaft capable of rotating about the central shaft to move between an opened position and a collapsed position. A method for maintaining a multi-diameter functional line using the pig assembly is also disclosed.

Pipeline pig and method for using the pig

A pipeline pig for wetting the top inner surface of a pipeline comprising a pig body, one or more circular brushes attached to the pig body, and means for rotating the one or more circular brushes as the pig moves through the pipeline.
