TOBACCO PRODUCT WITH FLUORESCENT OR PHOSPHORESCENT SUBSTANCES
A filter cigarette includes a filter, a filter wrapper material enwrapping the filter, a tobacco rod, a tobacco rod wrapper material enwrapping the tobacco rod, and a mouthpiece wrapper material. The mouthpiece wrapper material enwraps at least a subregion of the filter wrapper material and has an upper surface which forms at least part of the surface of the filter cigarette. The filter cigarette has at least one fluorescent or phosphorescent substance in the region of the mouthpiece wrapper material below the upper surface of the mouthpiece wrapper material. The mouthpiece wrapper material has an opening in at least one region of the fluorescent or phosphorescent substance or is embodied as a translucent or transparent film, so that this at least one region is visible from the outside of the filter cigarette.
SMOKING ARTICLE
An aerosol-generation system for a smoking article comprises an aerosol-generating segment and a heat generation segment. The heat generation segment has a length and includes a heat source. The aerosol-generation system for a smoking article also comprises an insulator disposed between the aerosol-generating segment and the heat source of the heat generation segment. Each segment is physically separate and in a heat exchange relationship. The heat source comprises a carbonaceous material.
Lyocell material for cigarette filter and method for preparing same
Disclosed are a lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a method of preparing the same, wherein a crimped tow is manufactured using a lyocell multifilament including low-strength lyocell monofilaments, and thus the ultimately prepared lyocell material for a cigarette filter can exhibit low strength, thereby increasing processing efficiency during the manufacture of the cigarette filter.
Adsorbent materials
There is provided an adsorbent material comprising a porous carrier material having pores with a diameter greater than 20 nm and carrying additive particles on its external surface, wherein the additive particles comprise an additive and have a diameter of greater than 20 nm. There is also provided a smoking article filter element comprising such an adsorbent material, a smoking article comprising such an adsorbent material, and a method of preparing such an adsorbent material.
Biopolymer foams as filters for smoking articles
A process for preparing a filter plug for a smoking article, such as a cigarette, includes: (a) freeze-drying a solution of a biopolymer to form a structure; and (b) cutting the structure to a predetermined dimension, to thereby prepare a filter plug for a smoking article. Another process for preparing a filter plug for a smoking article, such as a cigarette, includes: (a) extruding a mixture of a foaming agent and a biopolymer comprising a protein to form a structure; and (b) cutting the structure to a predetermined dimension, to thereby form a filter plug for a smoking article.
Cigarettes and Cigarette Filters Including Activated Carbon for Removing Nitric Oxide
Filters and cigarettes include an activated carbon sorbent capable of selectively removing nitric oxide from mainstream tobacco smoke. Methods for making cigarette filters and cigarettes using the activated carbon sorbent and methods for treating mainstream tobacco smoke produced by smoking a cigarette comprising the sorbent are also provided.
Smoking article
A smoking article, such as a cigarette, includes a carbonaceous heat source. A mouth end piece segment is located at the mouth end of the smoking article, and the mouth end piece segment allows the smoking article to be placed in the mouth of the smoker to be drawn upon. The smoking article further incorporates an aerosol-generating segment located between the heat generation segment and the mouth end piece segment. The aerosol-generating segment incorporates an aerosol-forming material (e.g., glycerin and flavors). The heat generation segment is in a heat exchange relationship with the aerosol-generating region such that heat generated by the burning fuel element acts to volatilize aerosol-forming material for aerosol formation. The carbonaceous heat source is in intimate contact with coarse, fine or ultrafine particles of materials such as cerium oxide, or mixtures of cerium oxide and palladium chloride.
Smoking apparatuses with an integrated filter holder
A smoking apparatus including a substantially hollow stem defining a bore having a bore diameter, the hollow stem including a first end, a second end disposed opposite the first end. A bowl is situated proximate the first end of the hollow stem and is configured to receive smoking product. The smoking apparatus includes a filter holder comprising a filter stop, a retainer lip, and a filter region. The filter stop is disposed between the first and second ends. The retainer lip is defined by the second end of the hollow stem, projects into the hollow stem, and defines a retainer lip opening providing space for fluid communication through the retainer lip. The filter region is disposed between the retainer lip and the filter stop. In some examples, the smoking apparatus includes a filter tool to help extract a compressible filter from the filter holder.
HYDROENTANGLED FILTER MATERIAL FOR SMOKING ARTICLES HAVING IMPROVED EXPANSION BEHAVIOUR
Shown is a hydroentangled nonwoven for manufacturing a segment for a smoking article, wherein the hydroentangled nonwoven is web-shaped and contains at least 50% and at most 100% cellulose fibers, each with respect to the mass of the hydroentangled nonwoven, wherein the hydroentangled nonwoven has a basis weight of at least 15 g/m.sup.2 and at most 60 g/m.sup.2, wherein the hydroentangled nonwoven has a machine direction and a cross direction orthogonal thereto and lying in the plane of the web of the hydroentangled nonwoven, and wherein the hydroentangled nonwoven has a characteristic plastic deformability in the cross direction which is characterized in that in a tensile test in the cross direction in accordance with ISO 1924-2:2008, the nonlinear portion of the deformation energy absorbed by the hydroentangled nonwoven up to half the elongation at break is at least 10% and at most 50% of the total deformation energy absorbed by the hydroentangled nonwoven up to half the elongation at break.
