Cellulose acetate tow with high dpf and low titanium dioxide content
Provided herein are cellulose acetate tow bands having less than 0.1 wt. % titanium dioxide, wherein the content of titanium dioxide is measured by ashing and/or by titanium particle count density. Also provided herein is a method of measuring the titanium dioxide content of cellulose acetate tow by ashing. Also provided herein is a method for measuring the color of cellulose acetate tow.
HOOKAH DOWNSTEM FILTER ASSEMBLY
A filter assembly has an outer housing having an open first end and an open second end. An inner filter housing is within the outer housing adjacent the second end, and a gasket is provided at the first end of the outer housing. An internal chamber is provided between the first end of the outer housing and the inner filter housing, where during use, fluid from the within the internal chamber is drawn out the second end of the outer housing by way of the inner filter housing. A filter is provided within the inner filter housing. The gasket forms a gasketed opening smaller than the open first end of the outer housing. The gasket may extend axially adjacent a wall of the outer housing and abut the inner filter housing, such that the internal chamber is defined by the gasket and the inner filter housing.
ELONGATED SMOKING ARTICLE
The present invention relates to an elongated smoking article (100) that extends in a longitudinal direction (L). The elongated smoking article (100) comprises a heatable tobacco material (11) and a filter element (20) aligned with the smoking body (10). The filter element (20) has at least one filter portion (30) and at least one hollow section (40), wherein the at least one hollow section (40) is disposed between the smoking body (10) and at least one of the at least one filer portion (30). The filter element (20) is sheathed by a tipping paper (50) together with the smoking body (10). The filter portion (30) comprises a material for reducing unwanted substances from an aerosol and a hollow section (40) has a barrier layer (51) disposed on its inner surface (41) and a carrier layer (52) disposed on the barrier layer (51). The carrier layer (52) contains a volatile additive (80) and the barrier layer (51) is impermeable to the volatile additive (80). The present invention also refers to a hollow section (40) for an elongated smoking article (100) of the invention, the hollow section (40) being spirally wound from a cardboard sheet material (42) comprising a barrier layer (51) disposed on its inner surface (41) and a carrier layer (52) disposed on the barrier layer (51), wherein a volatile additive (80) is contained in the carrier layer (52) and the barrier layer (51) is impermeable to the volatile additive (80).

FILTER FOR SMOKING ARTICLE
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a filter for a smoking article, or the like, which does not reduce, more than necessary, components affecting flavor which are contained in mainstream smoke, and which does not release aroma components other than an aroma component which is attributable to tobacco smoke. The foregoing problem is solved by a filter for a smoking article, the filter comprising a filter segment which does not release aroma components and which has a porous material that includes: inactive particles which do not selectively reduce components contributing to flavor with respect to raw tar in tobacco smoke; and a non-fibrous binder resin.
FILTER FOR SMOKING ARTICLE
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a filter for a smoking article that can reduce a stimulus component such as formaldehyde, and that does not reduce any more than necessary a component affecting the smoke flavor included in mainstream smoke. This problem is solved by providing a smoking article filter comprising a filter segment that has a porous material containing: a hydrotalcite particle; and a nonfibrous binder resin.
