METHOD FOR BONDING TWO DIFFERENT PLASTICS
The invention relates to a method for bonding two different plastics using a primer. The two plastics which are to be joined to each other have a weighted quadratic distance between the Hansen parameter (R.sub.a).sup.2 of more 22 MPa and the primer contains a polymer which has a weighted quadratic distance between the Hansen parameter (R.sub.a).sup.2 of less than 22 MPa to both of the plastics which are to be joined. The invention also relates to correspondingly bonded products.
METHOD FOR WELDING POLYAMIDE AND POLY(METH)ACRYLATE PLASTICS
The invention relates to a method for welding a polyamide plastic and a poly(meth)acrylateparticularly a polymethyl methacrylateplastic using a primer, said primer containing at least one copolymer synthesised from at least one styrene or styrene derivative and at least one maleic anhydride or maleic anhydride derivative. The invention also relates to correspondingly welded products.
METHOD FOR WELDING A POLYOLEFIN PLASTIC AND A PLASTIC BASED ON A POLYMER CONTAINING CARBONYL GROUPS
The invention relates to a method for welding a polyolefin plastic and a plastic based on at least one polymer containing carbonyl groups, using a primer which contains, in relation to the proportion of polymer in said primer, at least 20 wt. % of a polymer that comprises maleic anhydride or maleic anhydride derivative units. The invention also relates to correspondingly welded products.
LASER WELDING APPARATUS AND LASER WELDING METHOD
A laser welding apparatus is provides that includes: a support member including a heat generation portion which has a size that is limited to correspond to a size of a welding area of a plurality of plastic components and is made from a material that absorbs a laser beam and generates heat, and which generates heat of a temperature that is equal to or greater than a melting temperature of the plastic components; a laser beam irradiation unit for converging a laser beam to be transmitted through the plurality of plastic components, and irradiating the laser beam toward the heat generation portion through the plurality of plastic components; and a welding controller for causing a laser beam to be irradiated at the heat generation portion using the laser beam irradiation unit to thereby cause the heat generation portion to generate heat, and welding abutting faces of a welding area of the plurality of plastic components with heat that is generated.
Vehicle Assembly System
A method of assembling a vehicle structure is provided in which a laser system is used to expedite adhesive curing at a plurality of locations within an adhesive layer, where the adhesive layer bonds a first vehicle component to a second vehicle component. Once cured by laser irradiation and heating, the localized adhesive regions maintain the relative positions of the first and second vehicle components without the aid of a curing fixture, even though the remaining areas of the adhesive layer are uncured. This approach to tacking vehicle components together can be used to decrease fabrication time and cost.
Laser Welding System and Method for Producing Image-Containing Weld Seam
A laser welding method and system join portions of two workpieces of thermoplastic material by clamping together the portions of the workpieces to be joined, against a baseplate engraved or etched to form an image to be replicated in the joined portions of the workpieces, and applying laser radiation to the portions of the clamped workpieces to be joined, to melt those portions of the clamped workpieces to be joined and to replicate the image in the joined portions of the clamped workpieces when the material solidifies. The thermoplastic material of the workpieces can be optically transparent but absorbs a portion of the laser radiation, so that both workpieces are heated and melted by the laser radiation. A portion of the melted workpiece material flows into the engraved or etched portions of the baseplate, forming an embossed surface on the lower surface of the area where the workpieces are joined.
PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING AN ACOUSTIC PANEL REINFORCED BY AT LEAST ONE THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE LAYER
A process for manufacturing an acoustic panel including at least one acoustically resistive layer, at least one cellular structure and a reflective wall. The process includes steps of depositing the parts of the acoustic panel made of thermosetting composite, depositing a film made of thermoplastic resin that is miscible with the thermosetting composite at the polymerization temperature of the thermosetting composite, polymerizing the parts of the acoustic panel made of thermosetting composite, and depositing and consolidating at least one layer made of thermoplastic composite against the film made of thermoplastic resin in order to form the reflective wall.
Process for Making a Porous Filter Element, Porous Filter Elements Made Thereby, and Filter Devices Including Them
The present disclosure relates more to processes for making a filter element that includes a filter membrane having a strip of thermoplastic polymer material laminated thereto, for example, as a strip along an edge of the filter membrane. For example, one such process includes providing a sheet of filter membrane having a first surface and an opposed second surface; providing a strip of thermoplastic polymer material having a first surface and an opposed second surface; contacting the first surface of the strip of thermoplastic polymer material with the first surface of the filter membrane; and softening the strip of thermoplastic polymer material at at least its first surface by irradiation with laser radiation; such that the softened polymer material of the first surface of the strip of thermoplastic polymer material bonds to the first surface of the filter membrane upon hardening.
JOINT STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING JOINT STRUCTURE
A joint structure comprises a light-absorbable member having at least one opening portion and a light-permeable member superposed on the light-absorbable member so as to cover the opening portion, wherein a first annular weld part is formed so as to enclose the opening portion and join the light-absorbable member and the light-permeable member, and a second dot-like weld part(s) joining the light-absorbable member and the light-permeable member is/are formed in a position adjacent to the first weld part.
