The connector (200) can join an end of a first flexible thermoplastic tube segment (202) to an end of at least a second flexible thermoplastic tube segment (202). The connector (200) is made of a thermoplastic material allowing, through heat fusion, to join the inner surface (244) of the receptacles (240, 260) of the connector (200) to the outer surface (206) of the corresponding tube segments (202), and this, without creating a gap or an irregularity inside the portion of the liquid circuit. The heat fusion can result in airtight and robust joints made with a high precision and that are uniform, even if they can be made under difficult conditions. The proposed concept can be particularly useful in sugar making.

Tool for fusing outlet fittings in a plastic pipe and method of using the tool
10343336 · 2019-07-09 · ·

A tool for use in fusing an outlet fitting in the side wall of a plastic pipe has a base with three perpendicular guide rods. A movable plate is reciprocated on the guide rods in response to manual operation of a rack-and-pinion. The movable plate has a hole oriented to align a drill adapter and an outlet fitting adapter which are interchangeably inserted into the hole on an axis extending through a predetermined point on the longitudinal axis of the pipe. A retractable ratchet strap tightly girts the pipe to secure the tool against the pipe. The ratchet strap assures that the tool always maintains its original orientation on the pipe and the hole assures that interchanged drill and outlet fitting adapters are always returned to their original orientation in the tool. Therefore, the outlet fitting is always fused in its proper orientation in the pipe.

Fusible Size-On-Size Or Reduced Branch Fitting For Use With Polyethylene Pipe
20190137024 · 2019-05-09 ·

A fusible fitting of this disclosure includes a saddle having a radially extending branch with a closed bottom end. The closed bottom end forms a portion of the saddle and contains some of the fusion wires that run through the saddle. After the fitting is fused to a pipe, the closed bottom end may be tapped through, with that portion of the fusion wires being removed along with the coupon. Because of this configuration, the branch may be a size-on-size or near size-on-size branch. For example, the radially extending branch may have an inside diameter in a range of greater than 75% of an inside diameter of the pipe to 100% of the inside diameter of the pipe plus one wall thickness of the pipe.

Fusion welding fittings with weld bead cover

A fitting for use in fusion welding mating thermoplastic components includes a weld bead chamber to capture and conceal a bead formed as a result of the fusion weld. The weld bead chamber integrates the bead into the fitting so that the joined parts have a finished look without mechanical polishing or grinding of the completed piece. A stop ledge included in the weld bead chamber prevents over insertion of a pipe or other component into the fitting. A view window in the fitting permits inspection of the finished bead.
