The invention relates to a method for operating a tire building machine, wherein the tire building machine comprises a first drum half, wherein the first drum half comprises a base for mounting the first drum half to the drum shaft, wherein the base has a central axis that is arranged to coincide with the rotation axis, wherein the base is arranged to be movable over the drum shaft in the axial direction parallel to said central axis, wherein the first drum half is further provided with a turn-up section comprising a plurality of turn-up arms and an arm support, wherein the turn-up arms are rotatable with respect to the arm support from an arms-down position towards an arms-up position, wherein the method comprises the step of displacing the arm support such that each turn-up arm is turned-up into an intermediate position between the arms-down position and the arms-up position.
TURN-UP DEVICE AND TIRE BUILDING DRUM COMPRISING SAID TURN-UP DEVICE
The invention relates to a turn-up device for a tire building drum and a tire building drum comprising said turn-up device, wherein the turn-up device comprises turn-up arms distributed in a circumferential direction about a central axis for turning-up tire components on the tire building drum, wherein the turn-up device comprises rolling elements extending in the circumferential direction between the turn-up arms for rolling over the tire components during the turning-up, wherein the rolling elements are flexible about the central axis, wherein the turn-up device further comprises an annular support element extending in the circumferential direction along and supported by each of the turn-up arms, wherein the annular support element extends in the circumferential direction through each of the rolling elements and is flexible about the central axis, wherein the rolling elements are rotatable with respect to the turn-up arms about the annular support element.
Process and apparatus for manufacturing pneumatic tyres for vehicle wheels
In a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels, a carcass sleeve is arranged on a shaping drum including two half-drums and two supports. Each support is operatively associated with one of the half-drums and carries a plurality of turning-up levers having free ends positioned close to the respective half-drum. Two annular anchoring structures are disposed around the carcass sleeve and each of the two supports is locked to the respective half-drum by interposing only stiff mechanical elements in mutual contact between the support and the half-drum. The carcass sleeve is shaped in a toroidal conformation, by setting a threaded shaft in rotation and moving the half-drums close to each other. Subsequently, each of the two supports is unlocked from the respective half-drum and the threaded shaft is set in rotation to move each support close to the respective half-drum and lift up the free ends of the turning-up levers until the end flaps of the carcass sleeve are turned up around the annular anchoring structures.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING TIRES
A method and an apparatus for manufacturing uncured green tires. The apparatus includes a tire building drum with a device for creating a ply turn-up, the device including a plurality of turn-up fingers. The turn-up fingers are coupled, via sliding rings, to a drive unit located outside the tire building drum. The drive unit and the turn-up fingers are coupled to each other in such a way that they can be coupled both when the tire building drum is at a standstill and when same rotates.
DRUM HALF, TIRE BUILDING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAID TIRE BUILDING MACHINE
Disclosed is a first drum half together with a second drum half forming a tire building drum of a tire building machine, and a method for operating the machine. The machine includes a first drive member and a second drive member movable in the axial direction inside the drum shaft. The first drum half includes a base movable over the drum shaft in an axial direction, a crown-up section having a plurality of crown segments and a displacement member for displacing the crown segments in a crown-up direction, wherein the first drum half further includes a first coupling member for coupling the first drive member to the base to drive the movement of the base and a second coupling member for coupling the second drive member to the displacement member to drive the displacement of the crown segments.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING TIRES
A method and a device for producing tires. The device is made up of, among other things, a tire-building drum including a device for realizing a ply turn-up for producing uncured tire blanks. A plurality of turn-up fingers of the ply turn-up is coupled to a drive unit arranged outside the tire-building drum. The drive takes place via synchronously driven spindles which are coupled to the tire-building drum with the help of movable carriers.
