PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF EMBOSSED FILMS BASED ON PLASTICIZED POLYVINYL ACETAL
Polyvinyl acetal films with less blocking tendency and which allow for escape of gas during laminating to form laminated composities are prepared by a process for embossing a film comprising plasticized polyvinyl acetal with a roughness Rz on at least one surfaces of 20 to 100 μm by the steps of a. extruding of plasticised polyvinyl acetal to a film with a stochastic roughness of the surfaces of Rz=1 to 70 μm, b. embossing at least one surface of the film obtained in step a) with channels having a depth of 5-50 μm, a width of 10-200 μm and a pitch of 50-2500 μm, wherein c. the surface roughness of the elevations between the channels is at most 20% lower as obtained in step a).
MULTIPLE LAYER POLYMER INTERLAYERS HAVING A MELT FRACTURED SURFACE
The present invention provides multiple layer interlayers having a soft inner polymer layer and relatively stiff outer layers that can be laminated without unacceptable optical distortion and used in various multiple layer glass panel type applications. Multiple layer interlayers of the present invention have surface topography that is formed by controlling the melt fracture that occurs at the exposed surface of the interlayer, or individual layers of the multiple layer interlayer, during formation of the interlayer. By precisely controlling the surface topography of the interlayer, lamination of the interlayer with a rigid substrate does not lead to unacceptable optical distortion caused by the transfer of the surface topography through outer, stiffer layers into softer, internal layers of the interlayer.
MULTIPLE GLAZING UNIT
A multiple glazing unit having two outermost glass panes and at least one inner glass pane, where at least two intermediate gas-filled cavities each lie between two glass panes, the at least one inner glass pane bearing one metal-based insulating coating on one face and one transparent conductive oxide-based insulating coating on the opposite face, and a process for making the glazing.
COVER LENS FOR CONSUMER ELECTRONICS DEVICE
Embodiments of the invention disclose a method of producing a portable electronic device cover glass. The method comprises providing a portable electronic device cover glass preform of a predefined thickness, for example ranging from 10 micrometers to 600 micrometers, and texturing a surface of the portable electronic device cover glass preform such that said surface is provided with a roughness that simulates the surface of paper in terms of a user's reading experience and writing experience.
