A vehicle seat structure including: a seat cushion on which a vehicle occupant sits; a seat back that supports a back portion of the vehicle occupant while sitting on the seat cushion in a seat deployed state, the seat deployed state being a state in which the vehicle occupant is able to sit on the seat cushion; and a seat deploying/retracting mechanism that enables the seat cushion and the seat back to slide in a vehicle up-down direction, and that, in a seat retracted state in which the seat cushion and the seat back are retracted, enables the seat cushion and the seat back to be placed in the vehicle up-down direction such that the seat cushion stands upright, and the seat back is placed at an upper side of the seat cushion.

Retention device for vehicle seat

A seating assembly is attached to the floor and includes a seat that is rotationally operable relative to a seatback. A retention device is attached to the seat. When the seat is pivoted upright to a stadium position, the retention device is selectively deployable from a stored position to a cargo storage position that defines an enclosure at least partially defined by the seat and the floor.

An adequate mechanical stiffness and strength are afforded to a tumble seat or a vehicle seat having a latch mechanism provided in a rear end of the seat cushion. A cushion frame (F1) of the seat includes a side frame (5) extending in a fore and aft direction, and the side frame includes a first member (10) comprising a channel member having an open side facing sideways and a second member (11) attached to the first member so as to form a closed cross section jointly with the first member, and extending downward further than the first member. A latch mechanism is positioned under the first member and attached to the second member.

Vehicle seat

A vehicle seat (1), transferable from a usage position for transporting persons to a non-usage position, includes a seat cushion (3) having a seat cushion support (3a), a backrest (5), a vehicle connectable base (9) and a rocker (13), which is pivotably connected by a first joint (I) to the base or to a component (11) fixed to the base and is pivotably connected by a second joint (II) to the seat cushion support. A rear foot (21) is pivotably connected by a third joint (III) to the base or to a component fixed to the base. Pivoting motion of the rear foot about the third joint is lockable. The rear foot is pivotably connected by a fourth joint (IV) to the backrest. A fifth joint (V) connects the backrest to the seat cushion support. At least one of the joints (I, II, III, IV, V) is a fitting (25).

A seating system for a vehicle includes a seat back and a seat bottom selectively rotatable between a design position and a stowed position. A latch arrangement has a first cam with first and second surfaces, a support structure with first and second surfaces, and a second cam. The latch arrangement has a first locking position wherein the first surface of the first cam engages the first surface of the support structure so that movement of the seat bottom from the design position to the stowed position is inhibited. The latch arrangement also has a second locking position wherein the second cam engages a portion of the support structure so that movement of the seat bottom from the stowed position to the design position is inhibited.

Adjustable seat assembly

A seat assembly includes a base frame and first and second guide brackets coupled to opposed sides of the base frame. The first and second guide brackets each include slots disposed therethrough. First and second support brackets are slideably mounted to the slots of the first and second guide brackets, respectively. A seat portion includes a seat frame that is pivotally coupled to the first and second support brackets at opposed first and second ends of the seat frame. The seat frame is configured to pivot with respect to the first and second support brackets between use and upright non-use positions. The base frame is rotatably supported on a swivel mechanism for rotation of the seat assembly between forward-facing and rearward-facing configurations.

Vehicle Seating Systems

An alternative seating arrangement of a vehicle with a variety of vehicle restraints and occupant safety systems that are associated with the alternative seating arrangement. Many embodiments include rear facing and side facing seats.

RAIL ASSEMBLY HAVING A CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY

A rail assembly includes a track assembly, an elongate shaft mounted to the track assembly, and a carriage assembly received within the track assembly. The carriage assembly includes a body portion, an exterior surface of the body portion, a slider bracket fastened to the exterior surface of the body portion, and a gear box positioned within the slider bracket.
