INFINITE ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM FOR A HEAD RESTRAINT

A head restraint for a seat being adjustable in a vertical direction, and angularly adjustable with regard to lateral portions of the head restraint. A mechanism providing this adjustability is a linear and rotational locking mechanism with a shaft and a slide. The slide is selectively slidably and rotatably mounted on the shaft. The slide has a locked state which linearly and rotationally fixes the slide on, and with respect to, the shaft. The slide has a release state where the slide is linearly and rotatably movable on the shaft. The slide is fixable in a plurality of linear and rotational positions on the shaft in the locked state. The number of linear and rotational positions on the shaft is considered infinite since for all practical purposes, the slide is not restricted to individual discrete positions, but is continuously adjustable to practically any linear and rotational position.

BEARING FOR USE IN SEAT BACK ASSEMBLIES

A head restraint assembly including a headrest including an inner member, a seat back including an outer member, and a bearing disposed between the inner member and the outer member, the bearing including at least one leaf spring adapted to bias the inner member, where the leaf spring includes a substrate and a low friction layer overlying the substrate, where the leaf spring includes an inner portion and a plurality of outer portions, where the outer portions include end portions of the leaf spring that are folded over such that the outer portions overlie the inner portion, forming a folded edge, where the headrest is adapted to translate with respect to the seat back, and where the seat back is adapted to receive the headrest such that the headrest is height adjustable relative to a seat back.

CABLE ASSEMBLY FOR VEHICLE SEAT HEADREST

A cable assembly for folding vehicle seats having a folding headrest that folds as the seat back is moved to a folded positon. A cable interconnects a headrest folding mechanism with a stationary component whereby movement of the seat back shifts the cable. The cable assembly includes first and second portions that are interconnected by an adjuster rod and a retainer. The adjuster rod and retainer permit interconnection of the first and second cable segments upon assembly of the headrest with the seat back in a manner that permits taking up slack in the cable assembly.

Adjustable headrest including a guide configured to be coupled to a seat; a head support coupled to the guide and configured to be movable along an adjustment path relative to the seat; and a slider having a surface defining a recess receiving the guide. A retainer is positioned to urge a surface of the slider against a surface of the guide, thereby maintaining friction between the surface of the slider and the surface of the guide. Additionally, the adjustable headrest includes a bracket that is fixable relative to the head support or fixed relative to the seat. The bracket has a mounting section positioned for fixation relative to the head support or for fixation to the seat and a guide receiving portion receiving the guide. The slider and the bracket are separate components and are formed from the same material or different materials.

Headrest guide

A headrest guide includes: a tubular portion that extends in a first direction and into which a stay is inserted; a tongue piece protruding partially to the inside of the tubular portion, the tongue piece being configured to bend in a radial direction of the tubular portion and being configured to be brought into contact with the stay; and a plate spring pressing the tongue piece inwardly in the radial direction of the tubular portion. Protruding portions are disposed on opposite sides of the tubular portion, respectively, with the tongue piece interposed therebetween to hold the plate spring at opposite end sides thereof.

An actuator may include a shaft with a first end and a second end. The shaft may include a disengagement portion near the first end and an engagement portion near the second end. The actuator may also include a motor coupled to the first end of the shaft and configured to rotate the shaft about a longitudinal axis of the shaft. A housing may be coupled to the shaft and may be configured to move toward the disengagement portion during rotation of the shaft in a first direction. The housing may have a coupled position, in which the housing is engaged with the engagement portion of the shaft, and an uncoupled position, in which the housing is disengaged from the engagement portion of the shaft and is located adjacent to the disengagement portion of the shaft.
