The versatility of a water collecting member is raised while improving the ease of assembly of the water collecting member. A water collecting member 80 is formed with plural first marks 90 serving as markers for assembly of the water collecting member 80 to a first pivot holder 20. The first pivot holder 20 is formed with a second mark 92 serving as a guide for the correct assembly orientation of the water collecting member 80 to the first pivot holder 20. The second mark 92 is formed corresponding to one out of the plural first marks 90, and is configured so as to form a pair with that first mark 90. The water collecting member 80 can be assembled in the correct position by aligning the second mark 92 and the first mark 90 that form a pair when assembling the water collecting member 80 to the first pivot holder 20. This thereby enables incorrect assembly of the water collecting member 80 to be prevented when assembling the water collecting member 80 to the first pivot holder 20 in cases in which a universal water collecting member 80 is employed in various vehicle models.

A wiper (14) for wiping a window pane (12) of a motor vehicle is provided, having a drive shaft (16) that can be driven by a motor, and a wiper lever (18) connected to the drive shaft (16) for moving a wiper blade. The wiper lever (18) is flexibly bendable. A maximum bending angle (20) of the wiper lever (18) around a bending axis extending perpendicular to the drive shaft (16) is limited by a limit stop (32) to bending of the wiper lever (18) in the range of elastic deformation. The limit stop (32) makes stop contact at the maximum bending angle (20) and can keep the deformation of the wiper lever (18) reliably in the range of elastic deformation, thus reducing the risk of damage to wipers (14).

A vehicle windshield wiper assembly includes a filter member. The filter member is mounted to a radially inwardly facing surface of an upper area of a cylindrically shaped portion of a water diverting member below portions of a support panel above a wiper drive mechanism. The filter member encircles a shaft housing of the wiper drive mechanism and is shaped and dimensioned to allow flow of water from a first shaft opening in the support panel therethrough and restrict flow of debris from the first shaft opening therethrough.

Vehicle windshield wiper assembly

A support panel adjacent to the windshield opening has an upper surface and a lower surface with a first shaft opening. A wiper drive mechanism is supported to the vehicle body structure and extends along the lower surface of the support panel. The wiper drive mechanism includes a shaft housing and a wiper shaft pivotally supported within the shaft housing. A water diverting panel at least partially covers the wiper drive mechanism and is attached thereto and has a cylindrically shaped portion extending upward therefrom. The cylindrically shaped portion defines a second shaft opening with the shaft housing and wiper shaft extending upward through the second shaft opening and further extending upward through the first shaft opening. A filter member is mounted to the cylindrically shaped portion above the water diverting panel and below the support panel encircling the shaft housing.

Grommet Installer

An automated grommet installer and methods of installing a grommet. The installer and methods are capable of seating a grommet in an aperture of a window and facilitating correct alignment of the grommet within the window. Grommets are used to support and seal around a window wiper attached to a window. Typically, grommets are asymmetrical to match the curvature of the window. Embodiments of the described installer maintain grommet orientation while inserting the grommet in the window, quickly and efficiently installing the grommet. In embodiments the installer includes a system for identifying an incorrectly loaded grommet prior to installation and alerting an operator. In other embodiments, the installer includes a positioner that positions the grommet proximate to the window for installation and a gripper having one or more fingers reach through the window aperture, engage the grommet, and draw it into position, seated in the window.

The water blocking cap includes a mounting portion and a water receiver. One of the shaft holder and the water blocking cap includes a guide portion that moves the water blocking cap in a direction intersecting with the axial direction of the stem. In a mounted state in which the mounting portion is mounted to the stem, a part of the water receiver is arranged in a position that is closer to the proximal side of the stem than the fixed portion and in which the part overlaps with the fixed portion as viewed from the axial direction of the stem.

The shaft assembly (108) may comprise a shaft (113) and a threaded bushing (114) around the shaft (113). The seal assembly (100) may comprise an outer seal (101), which has a body portion (115) supported on the glass (103), and further comprises at least one sealing portion (116) to form at least one sealing area (119, 121); and the seal assembly (100) further comprises an inner rotatable seal (106), which has a body portion (122) with a thread (128) for engaging a thread (110) of the bushing (114), and which further comprises at least one second sealing portion (123) to form at least one sealing area (124). Therein, the body portion (115) of the outer seal (101) and the body portion (122) of the inner rotatable seal (106) have corresponding threads (102, 107) for engaging the outer seal (101) with the inner rotatable seal (106). The assembly (100) can prevent the water leakage at the connection region between the wiper and the vehicle body effectively. The assembly (100) is easy and convenient to be installed, with high reliability, and has an advantage in appearance.
