Wellsite hose and conductor payout and retraction method and system
11982141 · 2024-05-14 ·

A reel system allows for storage, paying out, and retrieval of conductors, such as high pressure hydraulic hose, electrical conductors, or any other length of reeled conductor. For well operations, hydraulic control hose may be filled or dry for storage. Pigtail ends of the hose pass through an aperture of a core of a reel into an umbilical space. The hose may be payed out as needed at the job or well site, and the pigtail ends then removed from the umbilical space for connection to a source of pressurized fluid. The reel may be immobilized from rotation during this stage. Once the onsite operations are complete, a drive system may be powered to cause rotation of the reel to retrieve and restore the hose. Multiple hoses may be stored on the reel, and multiple reels may be mounted and independently driven on a common support of the system.

A CIPP liner reel system for managing the utilization and deployment of CIPP liners. The CIPP liner reel system generally includes a frame connected to a reel and drive unit. The drive unit is connected to the reel to control the rotation of its core. This core contains an opening that provides access to a connector unit within the core. This connector unit can be used to connect the reel to the end of a CIPP liner using a strap. Rotation of the core causes CIPP liner to wind on to or unwind from the reel. The reel may also contain a left guide member and a right guide member to assist in controlling the process of winding and unwinding the CIPP liner. The frame may also include a tractor connector that enables the CIPP liner reel system to be coupled to and transported by a tractor without affecting its operation.

Automated reel control console

The present disclosure is to systems and methods for actuating pneumatic controls of reels electronically via a remote console, thus expanding remote control capabilities in a combination of hazardous and undesignated areas for oil and gas technologies. The method includes receiving, at a second control network from a first control network, electrical control signals for controlling pneumatic solenoids of a second control network. The second control network provides pneumatic signals to pneumatic valves, based at least in part on the control of the pneumatic solenoids. A controlling feature of the present disclosure is based at least in part on the pneumatic signals, to control, via the pneumatic valves, spooling movement of one or more reels comprising cables or feed lines, thereby spooling the cable or the feed lines.

An electronic control unit may, based on received sensor data, automatically direct the operation of a reel assembly for deploying a cable, hose or umbilical connection. The electronic control unit may operate in conjunction with an electro-pneumatic drive to control the reel assembly. Sensors may measure various parameters, such as a measured line tension and/or a length of cable, hose or umbilical connection that has been deployed, and transmit the measured data to the electronic control unit. Optionally, the sensor data and/or user control inputs and system status information may be logged. The system also may use this data to control the system, such as by activating an alarm when a certain alarm limit is exceeded by the data, adjusting the pressure or other parameters of the electro-pneumatic drive, and the like. The system also may generate a visual notification for an operator when an alarm is triggered.

Method and apparatus for applying liquid nutrients between parallel rows of standing crops

Liquid nutrients are continuously applied to a first group of rows of standing crops by pulling a drag hose from a reel located at one end of a field and between two crop rows with a boom having one end pivotally connected to an applicator and a tractor. The boom provides a liquid supply line from the drag hose to the center or one end of the applicator. At the opposite end of the field, the tractor and applicator turn 180 while the boom pivots to project from one end of the applicator to the drag hose. The tractor returns down adjacent rows back to the first end of the field with the boom projecting to the drag hose while the reel simultaneously retracts the hose between the two crop rows. The reel is moved axially to a third group of rows, and the steps are repeated.

Hose reel apparatus, systems, and methods for laying down and retrieving long lengths of hose from the ground. Hose reel systems can be pulled behind tractors and moved off center to expose the hose reel past a wheel on one side of the tractor. The move can be performed remotely, from within the tractor. The off center reel can pick up and wind hose. A remotely controlled variable displacement hydraulic motor can drive the reel rotation. The hose can be powered off the reel using the motor or dragged off the moving reel using the motor in zero displacement mode, with the change controlled from within the tractor. Hose can be wound onto the moving reel and the hose tension controlled by monitoring and controlling the hydraulic pressure and motor displacement from the tractor.
