SPORTS SHOULDER PADS WITH HYBRID FOAM BODY PAD
A shoulder pad assembly has main body cushions consisting of a plurality of different types of foam material joined together to result in a hybrid pad structure constructed from slow-response foam and open-cell foam. A main body cushion is constructed from a first sheet or panel of slow-response foam disposed over the torso of the wearer, a second sheet or panel of slow-response foam disposed over the back of the wearer, joined together by a third sheet or panel of open-cell foam positioned between the first sheet and second sheet, disposed over the wearer's shoulder. Optionally, a fourth sheet or pad of slow-response foam is disposed on the third sheet, disposed over the wearer's shoulder, preferably at the location that is most likely to suffer blows during football play. Optionally, a fifth sheet or pad of open-cell foam is disposed on the first sheet, on the side of the first sheet in contact with the wearer and a sixth sheet or pad of open-cell foam is disposed on the second sheet.
Protective articles and methods thereof
Disclosed herein are wearable articles and methods for the manufacture and use thereof. The wearable articles can comprise compression elements, gripping elements, and support elements containing a rate-sensitive materials which can operate to prevent injury.
Personal Impact Protection Device
An impact protection device includes a first shell configured to be disposed on a body portion of a user, a second shell spaced at a distance from the first shell, and a set of elastomeric members spanning the distance between the first shell and the second shell. Each elastomeric member includes a first end and an opposing second end, each first end comprises a first end portion disposed within a corresponding opening defined by the first shell and a terminal portion disposed against an inner wall of the first shell and each second end connected to the second shell. The set of elastomeric members are configured to stretch between the first shell and the second shell in response to a translation of the second shell relative to the first shell and at a location that is substantially opposite to an impact receiving location of the second shell.
Shoulder pads and method of manufacturing the same
The invention is to shoulder pads having arches that are pivotably connected to the chest and back portions of the pads to give an increased range of motion for a user. The arch is connected with a single pivoting connection on the chest portion and a single pivoting connection on the back portion so that the arch pivots relative to the chest and back portions of the shoulder pads. The arch portions of the pads are manufactured by injection molding so that the arches maintain their arch shape without the need for structural components to maintain its shape. The invention also includes a buckle system for shoulder pads that provide an easy mechanism for a user to adjust and to take the pads on and off. The buckle system provides a generally flush mount which reduces and preferably eliminates any grab points.
Padded Garment
A padded garment. The padded garment includes a plurality of reversibly attachable portions, such that the padded garment is modular, to enable an individual to wear one or more portions according to need. The plurality of reversibly attachable portions includes a central portion and a plurality of peripheral portions, which includes one or more right arm portions, one or more left arm portions, one or more right leg portions, and one or more left leg portions. The central portion may be worn alone or in combination with one or more portions of any of the peripheral portions. The padded garment includes protective pads, is low-profile, is configured to be effectively concealed underneath clothing, and is useful for a number of individuals, including stunt professionals in the entertainment industry.
CATCHER'S LEG GUARD
The present invention is directed to a leg guard that provides increased protection while also providing maximum articulation and increased freedom of movement for the user. More particularly, the leg guard includes a toe guard, a shin guard, a knee guard including an extended knee cap wrap, an extended knee guard, a thigh guard, a left hinge, and a right hinge. Through the use of an extended knee cap wrap and a hinged configuration, the leg guard provides additional protection for the knees of a catcher and allows catchers to freely and quickly move to or through different stances without having to re-position the pads of the leg guard. The hinged configuration provides enhanced mobility for the user by preventing the leg guard from shifting and rotating about the shin of the user and allowing the leg guard to remain static without axial rotation or vertical movement.
Ballistic-Resistant Garment Having An Incrementally Adjustable Fit
A ballistic-resistant garment having an incrementally-adjustable fit, and methods of making and using such a ballistic-resistant garment, whereby the ballistic-resistant garment includes a front panel having a front panel pocket configured to receive a first ballistic-resistant insert; a back panel having a back panel pocket configured to receive a second ballistic-resistant insert; a front panel first fastener coupled to the front panel; and a plurality of discrete back panel first fasteners coupled in spaced apart relation to the back panel, whereby each of the discrete back panel first fasteners is configured to matably engage with the front panel first fastener to provide a first pair of releasably engaged fasteners which couple the front and back panels to fasten the ballistic-resistant garment about a torso of a wearer.
Apparel with selectively attachable and detachable elements
An article of apparel has a surface with a first part of a fastening system, and an attachment element has an outer area with a second part of the fastening system. The first part of the fastening system is joinable to the second part of the fastening system to attach the attachment element to the apparel. The first part of the fastening system is also separable from the second part of the fastening system to separate the attachment element from the apparel. The attachment element may be formed from a polymer foam material, may include a fluid-filled chamber, or may incorporate an electronic device, for example. In some configurations, the attachment element is secured to an exterior of the apparel. In other configurations, the attachment element is secured between two layers of the apparel.
Impact protection suit
A unibody impact protection body suit apparatus that provides a secure fit to a user, provides spacing between the head of the user and the interior of the head region of the suit, provides face and shoulder protection, and situation awareness prior to impact to help prevent various head, neck, shoulder, upper body, and spinal injuries to a user in the game of football or other contact sport. In particular, the impact protection suit includes a head region having an interior wall region, a shoulder region, and a torso region. Here, the impact protection suit is configured such that the head region provides spacing between a user's head and the interior wall region to help minimize or prevent various, head, neck, and spine injuries. In addition, the suit may also include various proximity sensors and audio-visual notification interfaces for alerting the user of impending impact from an opposing player.
Flexible modular absorption panel and block for producing such a panel
Disclosed is a panel that is produced by assembling a plurality of adjacent individual absorption blocks; each block in the panel is in the shape of a polyhedral pyramid frustum, of which the base is a regular six-sided polygon; each individual block including six lateral walls surrounded by a lower peripheral lip of which each section is provided with a complementary tenon or a mortise arranged so as to allow two adjacent individual blocks to be assembled, in particular by engagement, in the vertical direction, of a tenon and a mortise belonging respectively to one and the other of the two adjacent individual blocks.
