COATED POROUS POLYMERIC MEMBRANES
The present disclosure provides a porous polymeric membrane that is coated with a cross -linked polymerized monomer. The coating on the porous polymeric membrane has a charge when it is immersed in an organic liquid. The coated porous polymeric membrane, a filter utilizing the membrane, and a method for treating an organic liquid used for photoresist with the coated porous polymeric membrane to remove metal contaminants from the organic liquid are disclosed.
REMOVAL OF BACTERIA FROM DRINKING WATER VIA FILTRATION
The present invention relates to a method for producing biocidal, porous particles of a cross-linked polymer, and to the porous particles that can be produced according to the method of the invention. The invention further relates to porous particles of an amino-group-containing polymer (polyamine) having a relatively low swelling factor. The porous particles according to the invention are used to remove biological contaminants from water and to bind metal-containing ions from solutions. The present invention further relates to a filter cartridge which contains the porous cross-linked polymer particles according to the invention.
IMPROVED HLB COPOLYMERS
Polymeric adsorbents useful for solid phase extraction (SPE) comprising a copolymer formed by copolymerizing at least one hydrophobic monomer including divinylbenzene and at least one hydrophilic monomer including acrylonitrile. Also provided are SPE cartridges including a divinylbenzene-acrylonitrile hydrophilic-lipophilic balance adsorbent. Further provides are methods of using a divinylbenzene-acrylonitrile hydrophilic-lipophilic balance adsorbent in conventional and simplified SPE techniques.
METHOD OF CHEMICALLY MODIFYING PLASTIC SURFACES
Disclosed herein are finished products, methods, compositions and kits for derivatizing plastic (e.g., polymer) surfaces in a manner that renders the surfaces appropriate for various downstream applications. For example, flow cells incorporating modified plastic surfaces provide greatly enhanced stability for retention of attached chemical species such as polypeptides and nucleic acids.
SORBENT FOR BINDING METALS AND PRODUCTION THEREOF
The present invention relates to a sorbent which is suitable for binding metals from solutions, the production of a corresponding sorbent as well as the use of the sorbent for binding metals from solutions.
Separation material
The present invention provides a separation material comprising porous polymer particles that comprise a styrene-based monomer as a monomer unit; and a coating layer that comprises a macromolecule having hydroxyl groups and covers at least a portion of the surface of the porous polymer particles, wherein the rupture strength is 10 mN or higher.
Hemocompatible adsorber for the dialysis of protein-bound uremic toxins
A hemocompatible adsorber for separating protein-bound uremic toxins contained in the blood of a patient and having a molecular mass of <500 g/mol regarding their carrier proteins, to adsorb the uremic toxins during hemodialysis. The hemocompatible adsorber including a polymer based on a cyclic oligosaccharide or a derivative thereof which is disposed on a solid carrier component. A device for hemodiafiltration including an extracorporeal circuit for receiving blood to be purified and a hemodialyzer connected to the blood circulation of a patient, wherein a hemocompatible adsorber is provided for separating protein-bound uremic toxins contained in the blood of a patient and having a molecular mass of <500 g/mol regarding their carrier proteins. The hemocompatible adsorber, which is disposed on a solid carrier component in at least one layer on the blood side within the hemodialyzer, includes a polymer based on a cyclic oligosaccharide or a derivative thereof.
POZZOLAN POLYMER COMPOSITE FOR SOIL AMENDMENT
A method is described for improving water retention in soil, which involves mixing a super absorbing resin (SAR) composite with the soil. The SAR composite comprises a natural pozzolan and at least one polymer or copolymer. The SAR composite may be in the form of granules having an average longest dimension of 0.2-10 mm, though the SAR composite may be pelletized or formed in other sizes. The SAR composite may release water at a faster rate in a soil when exposed to drought conditions.
Absorbent product and method for removing impurities from water
An oil absorbent product and a method of removing oil contaminants from a water flow are disclosed, in which the product according to the invention is placed in a filter composition and the saturated product can be regenerated for further use. Uses of the method and the product for the removal of oil contamination from water and for the absorption of oil spills, are also mentioned.
METHOD OF TREATING TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
The present invention concerns methods of treating a patient suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI), comprising contacting said patient's blood with a sorbent for an inflammatory mediator and kits for performing such treatments.
