A protective guard for protecting a body joint, the protective guard comprising: a first body having a first end and a second end; a second body having a first end and a second end, the second body rotatably connected to the first body at the second end of the first body, the first body and the second body defining an opening therebetween; and an extension member that extends distally from the first body towards the second body across the opening, wherein the extension member has a curvilinear profile with an apex aligned with the body joint. The extension member allows movement of the body joint while protecting the joint from direct impact.

A method of protecting a participant user, participant player, players, referee, official, coach or spectator from skin contact with an exposed connector by isolating the connector of a sports glove, which includes a front palm portion having finger stalls for insertion of fingers therein, and a rear back joinable portion which is attachable to said front palm portion by a connector, such as a zipper. The method includes the step of removably covering the zipper connector with a friction fit fly cover having an attachment end and a free end, wherein further lifting of the free end of the fly cover exposes the zipper for participant user engagement therewith. A protective guard is provided for sealing an interface. The protective guard includes a body having a fluid impervious material and proximal and distal segments that may comprise a superabsorbent or a non-superabsorbent material. The proximal and distal segments are positioned on first and second sides, respectively, of the interface. The protective guard extends about the interface to create a fluid barrier. In some embodiments, the non-superabsorbent material may be an elastic material, such as an elastic band, and in particular embodiments, the non-superabsorbent material may be nitrile. In further embodiments, the non-superabsorbent material may be an expandable material that expands upon contact or interaction with a fluid.

A protective sports glove including a vent opening and an arched panel extending upward and over the vent opening. The glove can include a breathable material that extends across the vent opening to provide improved air flow to and from the interior of the glove.
