Airbags including tethered inflatable chambers are disclosed. The tethered inflatable chambers can include internal tethers that are configured to break when an internal pressure of a tethered inflatable chamber reaches a predetermined value. Methods of forming an airbag fabric including internal tethers are also disclosed.

A knee airbag includes a front panel, a rear panel and an intermediate panel. The rear panel is coupled to the front panel to define an inflation chamber. The intermediate panel is disposed between the front panel and the rear panel and within the inflation chamber. The intermediate panel is connected to the rear panel by rows of first attachment points extending in a lateral direction across the knee airbag and connected to the front panel by rows of second attachment points extending in the lateral direction. The airbag includes a proximal bending area proximate a proximal end thereof. The longitudinal distances between adjacent rows of first and second attachment locations are greater than longitudinal distances between adjacent rows of second attachment locations.

An airbag fabric for an airbag comprises a mounting area (22) for mounting the airbag. The mounting area (22) includes a mounting hole (24), a load portion (26) which is adjacent to the mounting hole (24) in a load direction (B), and a transition portion (28) which is adjacent to the mounting hole (24) against the load direction (B). Furthermore, the load portion (26) and the transition portion (28) include different weaves. The fabric in the load portion (26) exhibits lower resistance to displacement than in the transition portion (28) so that a fiber bead forms of the fabric fibers of the load portion (26), which fiber bead is adjacent to the mounting hole (24) in the load direction (B), if bearing stress acts upon the mounting hole (24) in the load direction (B).

The invention relates to an airbag, which is configured to be set from an uninflated state to an inflated state to protect an occupant of a vehicle. According to the invention, it is provided that the airbag has at least two fabric layers which are connected to one another in such a way that a central inflow region forming a first airbag chamber and at least two wing regions forming respective second airbag chambers and extending radially from the inflow region are formed, so that during the inflation operation of the airbag a gas can first flow into the central inflow region and then from the central inflow region into the respective wing regions, distal end portions of the at least two wing regions being connected to one another via a flat tensioning element, so that the distal end portions move axially away from the central inflow region during the inflation operation of the airbag and, in the inflated state of the airbag, radially tension the flat tensioning element at an axial distance from the central inflow region.

The invention relates to an airbag, preferably an OPW airbag, which is configured to be set from an uninflated state to an inflated state by an inflation operation to protect an occupant of a vehicle. According to the invention, it is provided that the airbag has at least two fabric layers which are connected to one another in such a way that a plurality of airbag chambers are formed, wherein in the inflated state the airbag chambers are each formed as tubular chambers, which extend and/or are arranged transversely and/or obliquely and/or parallel to a depth direction of the airbag in the inflated state in such a way that the outer shape of the airbag assumes the shape of a tube, in particular a tube with an oval or elliptical cross-section or a hollow cylinder with a circular cross-section.

Airbag, preferably OPW airbag, for a vehicle

An airbag has at least two fabric layers which are connected to one another in such a way that a central inflow region forming a first airbag chamber and at least two wing regions forming respective second airbag chambers and extending radially from the inflow region are formed. During the inflation operation of the airbag, a gas flows first into the central inflow region and then from the central inflow region into the respective wing regions. Distal end portions of the at least two wing regions are connected to one another via a flat tensioning element, so that the distal end portions move axially away from the central inflow region during the inflation operation of the airbag and, in the inflated state of the airbag, radially tension the flat tensioning element at an axial distance from the central inflow region.

Airbag with at least three layers, said airbag being woven into a part

The application relates to an OPW airbag which is woven into a part, comprising warp threads and weft threads, which are woven so as to produce at least three woven fabric layers, a lower fabric layer (UG), an upper fabric layer (OG), and a central fabric layer (MG) arranged therebetween. The airbag is characterized in that the warp threads and weft threads of the central fabric layer (MG) float in a selected through-flow region (DSB).
