Windshield cleaning system and method

Disclosed herein is a windshield cleaning system including a computer in electronic communication with a windshield wiper controller, an image device, a fluid applicator, and a fluid heater. The system captures and compares a pre-spray image with a post-spray image, the post spray image acquired after actuating the fluid applicator and before actuating the windshield wiper. The comparison is performed by the computer to determined potential conditions with the windshield cleaning system.

Controller for vehicle wiper system

A system for a vehicle wiper is disclosed. The system comprises a first rain sensor disposed on a fore portion of a vehicle and a second rain sensor disposed on an aft portion of the vehicle. The system further comprises a controller configured to suspend a rain sensing activation identified during a monitoring cycle in response to a control event. The control even comprises detecting moisture with the first rain sensor for a delay time without detecting the moisture with the second rain sensor.

A wiper movement detecting device may include an optical sensor that may be installed to face a glass surface in a vehicle and detect illuminance in an area of the glass surface where the wiper that reciprocates along the glass surface passes through. The detecting device may also include a movement detecting unit configured to detect a reduction time in which the illuminance detected by the optical sensor may temporarily reduce due to the passing of the wiper and determine a movement of the wiper from an interval cycle based upon an interval between the reduction times.

RAIN SENSOR, VEHICLE USING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE

A rain sensor is included in a vehicle, and a method for controlling the vehicle utilizes the rain sensor. The rain sensor includes a light transmitter configured to radiate light to a windshield of the vehicle; a light receiver configured to receive light reflected from the windshield to generate a reception light signal; a filter configured to filter out noise from the reception light signal; and a controller configured to determine a presence or absence of pollutant and a degree of pollution on the basis of the filtered reception light signal, and perform pollutant removing.

Multifocal rain sensor

A multifocal rain sensor includes: at least one light emitting unit configured to output light; a first reflective plate corresponding to the at least one light emitting unit and disposed at a position spaced apart from the at least one light emitting unit by a predetermined distance; a glass part reflecting light after the light is reflected by the first reflective plate and forming a sensing region; a second reflective plate re-reflecting the light reflected by the glass part; and a light receiving unit configured to receive the light reflected by the second reflective plate. The second reflective plate includes a multifocal reflective plate having a plurality of focuses based on a vertical height of incident light that varies according to a change in thickness of the glass part.

RAIN SENSOR OF VEHICLE, AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

Disclosed herein are a rain sensor of a vehicle and a control method thereof to solve a problem that a measurement result of rainfall varies according to a glass specification of a windshield even under the same rainfall condition by tuning sensitivity of the rain sensor in accordance with the glass specification of the windshield. For this, a method of determining the glass specification of the rain sensor according to the present disclosure includes determining the glass specification of the windshield from a light-receiving signal obtained by receiving light reflected by the windshield of the vehicle, and eliminating a deviation between light-receiving signals by glass specification, which is caused by a difference in the glass specification, by applying parameter tuning according to a glass specification to the light-receiving signal.

Automatic wiper control prohibiting means prohibits execution of automatic wiper control when vehicle stop detecting means detects that a vehicle is stopping and a masking object detecting part determines that a masking object is adhered to an outer surface of a window part. When the vehicle stop detecting means detects that the vehicle is stopping and a state of the masking object detecting part is changed from a state where the masking object detecting part detects that the masking object is adhered to the outer surface of the window part to a state where the masking object detecting part detects that the masking object is not adhered to the outer surface of the window part at a changing time, the automatic wiper control prohibiting means prohibits the execution of said automatic wiper control for a predetermined period of time from the changing time.

Vehicle rain sensing using modulated infrared transmission

A rain sensor in a vehicle includes a transmitter to implement a pseudorandom modulation of a timing of emission of infrared transmissions toward a windshield of the vehicle. The rain sensor also includes a receiver to be active for only a specified period of time following each emission of the infrared transmissions and to receive a reflection based on the infrared transmission encountering any substance on the windshield.
