Automatic removal of water from vehicle surfaces

Water is removed from the windshield of a ground vehicle via a wiper sweeping across the windshield, thus transporting the water thereon to a particular side. At least one remote sensor registers set of parameters in respect of other ground vehicles. A controller unit determines a point in time when a substantial amount of water is expected to hit the windshield of the own vehicle as the result of another vehicle moving proximate thereto and controls the operation of the wiper such that, before said point in time, the wiper is placed at a predetermined position. At said point in time, a stroke of the at least one wiper is initiated from the predetermined position over said surface. In one embodiment, this means moving the at least one wiper in a continuous sweep such that it passes the predetermined position at said point in time.

Wiper control method and wiper control device

In a wiper device for vehicles, overrun at inversion positions is suppressed while a wind load and a high load are dealt with. A wiper device includes: a wiper blade; a wiper arm to which the wiper blade is attached; and a motor for driving the wiper arm. A load generated in the motor when the wiper blade moves on a windshield is estimated and calculated based on a motor supply current amount and the like. When an outward load generated in the wiper motor exceeds a predetermined threshold value, a high load correction process is performed based on the outward load. When the outward load is less than or equal to the threshold value, a wind load correction process is performed based on a wind load calculated from a difference between the outward load and the return load.

VEHICLE CAMERA CLEANING SYSTEM

Various techniques described herein relate to vehicle camera cleaning systems used for cleaning foreign matter off of a camera lens, including, for example, a water flow nozzle arranged to eject water flow, an air nozzle arranged to eject air, and a central controller used to control the water flow nozzle and air nozzle. In certain embodiments, a plurality of sensing devices are used for sensing the conditions of the camera lens, such as an infrared water drop sensor, a temperature sensor, a camera sensing sensor, and the like. The central controller may determine whether there are water drops, ice, snow, or other foreign matter on the lens based on signals received from the plurality of sensing devices, and may control the air nozzle and the water flow nozzle to clean the camera lens based on the foreign matter present.

Method for measuring fine particulates and fine particulate sensor for determining the particle size of fine particulates

In a method for measuring fine particulates in the vicinity of a motor vehicle with an optical receiving device, at least one LED (2, 3) arranged inside the motor vehicle lights up an outside air region. The optical receiving device is designed to capture the area under examination in a spatially localized manner and takes an intensity measurement in an area that is lit by the LED. The intensities measured are analyzed for diffraction patterns that depend on the size of the fine particulates. Additionally, a portion of the light that is coupled into the windshield is also analyzed for the presence of water on the windshield.

DEBRIS MANAGEMENT SLIDER

A debris management system includes a slider adapted to move in first and second directions along a track disposed across a vehicle surface. The slider has a first side facing the first direction, a second side facing the second direction, and a spray barrier disposed along each of the first and second sides. A wiper mechanism extends from the slider and is adapted to make contact with the vehicle surface.

Ranging devices and vehicles include a LiDAR. The LiDAR is fixed to an inside of a vehicle cover, and a field of view of the LiDAR forms a projection area on the vehicle cover. A cleaning range of a wiper of the vehicle at least partially coincides with the projection area. Methods for cleaning a window of a LiDAR for a vehicle includes: regulating operating parameter of at least one of the wiper or the LiDAR such that a cleaning operation of the wiper cooperates with a detection operation of the LiDAR; and controlling the wiper to perform the cleaning operation.
