A padded hand restraint for securing a hand and wrist to a bed frame. The padded hand restraint includes an annularly shaped padded base with an elongated portion designed to receive a hand and a wrist. A lower strap designed to secure the padded base to an object is attached to a lower surface of the padded base. A wrist strap designed to secure a wrist is disposed on an upper surface. A peripheral padding extends outwardly along a perimeter of the padded base, forming an open section. A secondary strap designed to further secure the wrist is disposed on the elongated portion of the peripheral padding. A mesh netting is additionally located along the annular portion of the padded base, the netting designed to secure over the open section such that the hand is visible while restrained. In this way, a patient can be removably restrained in an efficient manner.

The lightweight ball glove includes a back portion having a plurality of lightweight layers and a shock cord tension system between the plurality of lightweight layers. The lightweight ball glove also includes a palm portion having a plurality of lightweight layers. The outer edge of the palm portion is fixedly coupled with the outer edge of the back portion to form a lightweight glove. A web portion having a monofilament mesh is fixedly coupled between a thumb and a pointer finger of the lightweight glove. A surrounding frame made of the plurality of lightweight layers is fixedly coupled with a side and bottom portion of the monofilament mesh and a bridge is fixedly coupled with the top. Cordage is used for lacing together a top portion of each finger with an adjacent finger and the bridge to form the lightweight ball glove.

The present invention relates to a protective device for protecting a proximal interphalangeal joint and a distal interphalangeal joint of a human finger. The device comprises a flexible sheath for wearing around the human finger and at least four motion constraining elements integrated in or secured to the flexible sheath. The motion constraining element is adapted for constraining a lateral and/or rotational deviation motion of a first phalanx with respect to a second phalanx. The motion constraining element covers a lateral side of the flexible sheath at a location corresponding to the joint and is adapted for resisting elongation of the motion constraining element in a longitudinal direction of the flexible sheath. The motion constraining element is bendable in a direction to allow flexion of the joint. The motion constraining elements for the distal interphalangeal joint and for the proximal interphalangeal joint are distinct and separate elements having different points of engagement on the flexible sheath.

A finger restraint glove prevents restrained individuals from using their hands and fingers in undesired ways, with the gloves completely limiting the ability of restrained individuals to use their hands and fingers by encapsulating their hands. The gloves contain straps and fastening elements, and can be used in conjunction with handcuffs and other wrist restraint devices.

A device and method for restricting or enhancing wrist rotation uses an armband with an outer surface with loop or hook fasteners. An elongated flexible non-stretchable device wraps outwardly around the forearm when in use to prevent over-rotation of the wrist or wraps inwardly around the forearm when in use to prevent under-rotation of the wrist. The elongated device has an upper end portion, a lower end portion, and an inner surface with hook or loop fasteners. The elongated device can be removably and adjustably attached to the armband, and has a first connecting device affixed to the lower end portion. A gauntlet has a second connecting device affixed at the dorsal side of the thumb that is compatible with the first connecting device. The gauntlet may be constructed from material stretchable in a transverse direction of the hand but not stretchable in a longitudinal direction of the hand.

A handpad for protecting the hand during repetitive gripping and/or impact activities, such as batting practice. The handpad may be made from a padded, absorbent and elastic material such as neoprene. The handpad may be secured to the hand by one or both of an index-finger insertion section and a little-finger insertion section. The finger insertion sections may be configured as holes in the handpad, or as loops created by folding and connecting respective corners of the handpad material to the handpad.

There is described an apparatus for installation on a hand having a thumb and opposable fingers, both having joints and phalanges. The apparatus comprises biasing devices. Each one of the biasing devices substantially has an inversed V shape formed by a hinge, a distal end and a proximal end. The biasing devices are connected together to form the apparatus. The hinges of the biasing devices are spatially distributed so that each hinge covers a corresponding one of the joints and biases the distal end and proximal end toward each other. The apparatus keeps the hand in a substantially closed position to assist in gripping objects.

A hand restraint of flexible, high tensile strength material forming three separate cavities for slidably receiving and isolating the thumb, index finger, and remaining third, fourth, and fifth fingers in a closed fist-like configuration, respectively is provided. The material and cavities prevents wearers from gripping, manipulating and using weapons or other articles, yet providing them the ability to pinch the index finger and thumb together to grip smaller articles, such as forms of identifications and writing implements. Along a peripheral portion, the hand restraint may provide webbing at the junction of the index finger and thumb portions for further restraining manipulation of weapons. The hand restraint provides securing devices along its wrist portion for enabling the wearer to remove their own hand restraint upon conclusion of the need for the device.
