A smart mask includes a first material layer, at least one display, a first sensor, and a control module. The first material layer is configured to cover a portion of a face of a person. The at least one display is connected to the first material layer and configured to display images over a mouth of the person. The first sensor is configured to detect movement of the mouth of the person and generate a signal indicative of the movement of the mouth. The control module is configured to receive the signal and display the images on the display based on the movement of the mouth.

Color changing systems include a color changing article or device that includes a color, text, and pattern changing hardware. A software app running on the smart device or standalone controller initiates a method of changing colors, text, and patterns of apparel, devices, hard goods, and accessories. The color changing systems include fabrics and other materials including LEDs, LED fiber optic fabrics, electroluminescence (EL), bioluminescence, electrochromatics, E-ink, OLED, light guides, printed nano LEDs, photonic ink, and other materials. The primary layer has an opening adjacent to the higher compression material(s). A first peripheral portion of the liner is secured to the interior of the primary layer and extends over the opening, with a second peripheral portion extending over only a portion of a periphery of the higher compression material(s), being secured thereto to form a gonfalon-shaped pocket that receives a correspondingly shaped heat/cold pack.
