Airbag with deployment or movement controlling tensioner
An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes a curtain airbag inflatable from a stored condition adjacent a roof of the vehicle to a deployed condition in which the curtain airbag is positioned between a side structure of the vehicle and the vehicle occupant. A tensioner is positioned adjacent to the vehicle roof and spaced inboard from the vehicle side structure. A tether has a first end portion connected to the tensioner and a second end portion connected to the curtain airbag. The tensioner is configured to pay-out and/or retract the tether. The tensioner is configured to control pay-out and/or retraction of the tether to control deployment of the curtain airbag and/or to control movement of the curtain airbag once deployed.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
An occupant protection device for a vehicle includes right and left bag bodies and an inflator. The right and left bag bodies are accommodated along at least both right and left side portions of a seat back portion of a seat of the vehicle. Each of the right and left bag bodies is configured to be deployed between both ends thereof fixed to the seat. The inflator is configured to deploy the right and left bag bodies. Each of the right and left bag bodies is accommodated in a state of being wound with the both ends located outside. The right and left bag bodies are configured to be deployed in such a manner that the right and left bag bodies are unwound from a state of being accommodated to reach positions in front of an upper body of an occupant to be seated on the seat.
AIRBAG ARRANGEMENT
The invention relates to an airbag arrangement for a motor vehicle, with—an airbag (1), the airbag (1) having a first cushion layer (1.1) and a second cushion layer (1.2) opposite to the first cushion layer (1.1), and—at least one tether arrangement (2), the tether arrangement being connected to the airbag (1) and being connectable with one end to the motor vehicle outside the airbag (1).
Curtain airbag apparatus for vehicle
A curtain airbag apparatus for a vehicle is configured to connect a curtain airbag cushion to a vehicle body by a cushion restriction device including a tether carriage and a cushion tether to reinforce a restriction force of the deployed curtain airbag cushion, and to reinforce restriction on movement of an occupant during a side collision by use of the curtain airbag cushion having the reinforced restriction force to prevent the occupant from being thrown through a vehicle side window during a side collision even when a panorama window is used as the side window.
Occupant protection system
An occupant protection system includes a first airbag device, a second airbag device, and an airbag control processor. The first airbag device includes a first bag. The first bag is configured to be deployed along a side surface of a compartment of a vehicle upon a side impact of the vehicle. The second airbag device includes a second bag. The second bag includes a shoulder pressing part. The shoulder pressing part is configured to be deployed between a seat back and a shoulder, of an occupant, on an outer side in a vehicle width direction. The airbag control processor is configured to control deployment and non-deployment of the shoulder pressing part of the second airbag device in accordance with a state of the side impact of the vehicle.
Seat airbag with belt and spool
An assembly includes a seat having a seatback. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the seatback and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag extends from the seatback to an end in the inflated position. The assembly includes a spool rotatably supported by the seatback. The assembly includes a belt extending along the airbag in the inflated position. The belt extends from the spool to the end of the airbag. The belt is extendable from the spool.
Door-mounted vehicle airbag
An assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle pillar. The assembly includes a vehicle door adjacent the vehicle pillar. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the vehicle door. The airbag includes an upper portion inflatable upwardly and a lower portion inflatable downwardly. The assembly includes a pyrotechnic device supported by the vehicle pillar. The assembly includes a cable extending along the vehicle pillar from the pyrotechnic device and coupling the upper portion of the airbag to the pyrotechnic device.
Restraint system
A deployable restraint system comprising a reaction panel, a panel actuator that deploys the reaction panel, a cushion, and a cushion actuator that deploys the cushion. When both the reaction panel and the cushion are deployed, the reaction panel is configured to transfer force from the cushion to a roof and only one of two sides of a compartment. A lower end of the reaction panel is configured to couple to the one of the two sides with a tether that is moved by the panel actuator.
Airbag with releasable secondary chambers
An assembly includes a first seat and a second seat spaced from the first seat. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the first seat. The airbag is inflatable to an inflated position between the seats. The airbag has a main chamber, a pair secondary chambers supported by the main chamber, and a tether releasably connected to the secondary chambers. The secondary chambers are maintained by the tether in an undeployed position relative to the main chamber and the secondary chambers are releasable by the tether to a deployed position in a cross-vehicle direction relative to the main chamber. The assembly includes a computer including a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to identify that an occupant is seated in the first seat, identify that an occupant is seated in the second seat and release the tether based on the identification of the occupants seated seats.
Airbag apparatus for vehicle
An airbag apparatus for a vehicle, in which a lateral tether is disconnected or a front tether is disconnected, in the event of a collision accident, depending on whether a passenger seated in a passenger seat is in a normal seating state or a relaxed seating state, such that a deployed airbag cushion may effectively protect not only a passenger seated in the passenger seat in the normal seating state but also a passenger seated in the passenger seat in the relaxed seating state.
