Electro-optical assembly and method for detecting ambient light
An electro-optical assembly, in particular a sensor assembly for detecting ambient light, includes a reflection surface, a lens body and an electro-optical component, in particular a light receiver. The component includes a depression having a main lens section, in particular a diverging lens section with a concave interior wall, and a converging lens section with a convex interior wall. The interior wall of the converging lens section is formed in such a way that the rays of the ray path which travel through the converging lens section to the electro-optical component hit the reflection surface in such way that the angle of incidence at the reflection surface is larger or the same as the critical angle of the total internal reflection at the reflection surface. In another aspect a method for detecting ambient light is described.
MULTIFOCAL RAIN SENSOR
A multifocal rain sensor includes: at least one light emitting unit configured to output light; a first reflective plate corresponding to the at least one light emitting unit and disposed at a position spaced apart from the at least one light emitting unit by a predetermined distance; a glass part reflecting light after the light is reflected by the first reflective plate and forming a sensing region; a second reflective plate re-reflecting the light reflected by the glass part; and a light receiving unit configured to receive the light reflected by the second reflective plate. The second reflective plate includes a multifocal reflective plate having a plurality of focuses based on a vertical height of incident light that varies according to a change in thickness of the glass part.
RAIN SENSOR WITH MULTI-SENSITIVITY REGION
A rain sensor with a multi-sensitivity region includes: at least one light emitting unit configured to output light; a reflective plate provided to correspond to the at least one light emitting unit at a position spaced apart from the at least one light emitting unit by a predetermined distance; a glass part configured to reflect light reflected by the reflective plate and form a plurality of sensing regions; and a light receiving unit configured to receive the light reflected by the glass part. The reflective plate includes at least one first reflective unit forming a first sensing region and at least one second reflective unit forming a second sensing region, the second sensing region has a quantity of light per unit area higher than a quantity of light per unit area of the first sensing region, and the at least one light emitting unit is disposed at a position corresponding to a focal distance of each of the at least one first reflective unit and at least one second reflective unit.

A lens plate (10) for a rain and/or light sensor is proposed. The lens plate (10) has a base body (18), at least one light limitation structure (21), and at least one lens structure (28), the light limitation structure (21) extending into the base body (18) from a lower side (14) of the lens plate (10), a contour (27) of the light limitation structure (21) facing away from the lower side (14) of the lens plate (10) limiting the lens structure (28) circumferentially, and the contour (27) being substantially triangular. Furthermore, a rain and/or light sensor (8) is proposed.

A rain and temperature sensing module including a housing having a cover plate formed of a transparent material, a printed circuit board disposed within the housing and having a light emitter, a light receiver, and a temperature sensing element disposed thereon, a transparent compound disposed within the housing and covering the light emitter, the light receiver, and the temperature sensing element, the transparent compound filling a space between the printed circuit board and the cover plate, wherein the transparent compound has a refractive index that is substantially equal to a refractive index of the cover plate, and wherein the transparent compound provides a thermally conductive medium between the cover plate and the temperature sensing element.
VEHICLE RAIN SENSING USING MODULATED INFRARED TRANSMISSION
A rain sensor in a vehicle includes a transmitter to implement a pseudorandom modulation of a timing of emission of infrared transmissions toward a windshield of the vehicle. The rain sensor also includes a receiver to be active for only a specified period of time following each emission of the infrared transmissions and to receive a reflection based on the infrared transmission encountering any substance on the windshield.
Sensor and glazing incorporating a sensor
A laminated glazing and related detection method is described. The laminated glazing has a detecting device to determine the presence of mist on a surface of the glazing and/or the presence of an object contacting or proximal the glazing. The detecting device including transmitter means for emitting a beam of electromagnetic radiation, detector means for detecting electromagnetic radiation and a target for non-specular reflection of first beam of electromagnetic radiation. The transmitter means is configured to emit the beam of electromagnetic radiation to illuminate the target such that electromagnetic radiation reflects therefrom to illuminate a region of a major surface of the glazing. At least a portion of the electromagnetic radiation reflected off the region is detectable by the detector means to provide a detection signal for detecting mist on the region and/or the presence of an object contacting or proximal the glazing. A detection method is also described.
