Heat-sealable, liquid impervious fabric
20200361190 · 2020-11-19 ·

Breathable barrier fabrics for protective garments that form liquid impervious seams when overlapped and sealed together via heat-sealing, and the seams formed thereby. The breathable barrier fabric is a heat-sealable, liquid impervious fabric composed of a breathable, liquid impervious thermoplastic film layer having a first melting point and a nonwoven layer bonded to a first surface of the thermoplastic film layer. The nonwoven layer has a second melting point that is higher than the first melting point of the thermoplastic film layer. A second nonwoven layer having the second melting temperature may be bonded to a second surface of the thermoplastic film layer opposite the first surface such that the inner film layer has a lower melting point than the outer nonwoven layers. The heat-sealable, liquid impervious fabric has a moisture vapor transmission rate of at least 800 g/m.sup.2/day as determined by ASTM E96-00.

INSULATED VENTED GARMENT FORMED USING NON-WOVEN POLYMER SHEETS
20200337399 · 2020-10-29 ·

Aspects herein provide for a method of manufacturing a vented insulated garment using non-woven polymer sheets and garments produced therefrom. The method generally comprises providing a non-woven polymer sheet having one or more voided portions, positioning the sheet between two textile layers, and bonding the textile layers together at areas corresponding to the voided portions in the non-woven polymer sheet to form a seam. The seam may be optionally perforated.

Cold weather vented garment

The present invention relates to breathable, vented, and insulating cold weather garments. More particularly, the present invention relates to garments with chambers to retain an insulating fill material. Perforations along the seams between the insulating chambers may achieve optimal evaporative moisture transfer from the inside (proximal to the body of a wearer) of the garment to the outside environment.

SEAM SEAL AND METHOD FOR FORMING THE SAME ON STRETCH DENIM AND OTHER FABRIC PRODUCTS
20200316930 · 2020-10-08 ·

A method for sealing a seam in a fabric provides for joining at least one piece of a stretchable, one-ply woven fabric to another fabric such as another stretchable one-ply woven fabric, and for sealing the seam with a strip of another piece of fabric with an adhesive laminated thereon. The stretchable one-ply woven fabric includes elastic and inelastic fibers. A seam is produced in which the fabric fibers adhere to the seam and do not pull back from the seam. Also provided is a method for forming a hem and sealing the hem with a strip of another piece of fabric, to produce a hem that is resistant to fiber slippage. The method is advantageously used to form denim and other garments from woven fabrics that include at least 65% natural fibers along with various elastomeric fibers.

Surgeon gown with sealed sleeves and methods of manufacturing the same

A medical gown (701) includes a layer of material (100) with a seam (401) disposed across the layer of material. The material can include a weave (110) of untwisted, continuous filament polyester. The material can also include a carbon filament (109). The seam is sealed by applying a tape (200) across the seam and applying heat to cause the tape to attach to the weave.

Adhesive fabrication process for garments and other fabric products

A process for fabricating a three-dimensional, multi-layered fabric product with a moisture barrier is provided. A partially seamed inner lining fabric assembly having at least a two-dimensional shape is laminated with a membrane barrier film having flaps left un-laminated to cover at least one seam. The inner lining fabric assembly is further seamed and flaps of the of the membrane barrier film overlapped into contact with each other and sealed to provide a continuous moisture barrier. A process for fabricating a stretchable section of a garment with a moisture barrier is also provided. At least a section of a garment is formed from fibers arranged in a pattern having a direction of stretch in one direction and a three-dimensional surface texture such that a portion of the fibers protrude above another portion of the fibers. The stretchable section is stretched in the direction of stretch. Segments of a membrane barrier film are adhered to an outer edge of the protruding portion of the fibers while the section is stretched in the direction of stretch, leaving intermediate segments of the barrier film free from adherence to the section. In this way, the intermediate segments of the membrane barrier film include slack that folds up to form ruches when the section is in a relaxed state.

Seam construction using radio frequency welding and tape

A process of constructing an air tight and water tight seam, comprising cutting a sheet of selected material into two or more panels, sealing the panels at respective selected edges using an ultrasonic machine to form a seam, overlaying the seam with a tape made of the same selected material, and sealing the tape and seam using a radio frequency (RF) welding machine.

Maternity Leggings

A revolutionary garment is disclosed that fits precisely to a pregnant woman's evolving body shape. Using a bonded film band instead of traditional seamless shapewear provides superior support, strength and comfort. By adding a bonded front band, the legging has the support of a medical maternity belt with the clean sleek look of a performance legging.

Insulated vented garment formed using non-woven polymer sheets

Aspects herein provide for a method of manufacturing a vented insulated garment using non-woven polymer sheets and garments produced therefrom. The method generally comprises providing a non-woven polymer sheet having one or more voided portions, positioning the sheet between two textile layers, and bonding the textile layers together at areas corresponding to the voided portions in the non-woven polymer sheet to form a seam. The seam may be optionally perforated.
