Control of industrial water treatment via digital imaging
Systems for and methods of monitoring and analyzing deposit in an industrial water system are provided. The methods comprise heating a substrate while the substrate contacts industrial water in the industrial water system to form deposit on the substrate. A series of digital images of the substrate while the substrate contacts the industrial water in the industrial water system is created. A region of interest in the series of digital images of the substrate is defined. A deposit feature in the region of interest in the series of digital images of the substrate is identified. The deposit feature in the region of interest in the series of digital images of the substrate is analyzed to determine a deposit trend of the substrate in the industrial water system. Generally, the systems are configured so as to be capable of carrying out one or more of the methods.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF HARD WATER
Systems and methods for treatment of hard water are disclosed that relate to combining a scale reduction device with a water softener device. In an aspect, the water softener device is an ion exchange water softener device. The systems and methods can be used to provide treated water having the same or similar performance quality compared to water produced by ion exchange water softener devices alone, while using significantly less chemical regenerant.

METHOD FOR SELECTING SCALE-DISSOLVING AGENT
A method provides for selecting a scale-dissolving agent suitable for components of the scale. The method for selecting the scale-dissolving agent includes a step of determining coordinates of specific physical properties of scale to be removed based on Hansen solubility parameter and a step of selecting the dissolving agent based on the distance between the coordinates of specific physical properties of scale to be removed and the coordinates of specific physical properties of the dissolving agent. Also provided is a method for removing scale using it.
Chemical release system
A feeding head assembly and a chemical release system for eliminating scale conditions and maintaining a neutral pH in potable water is disclosed. The feeding head assembly may include a composite membrane system comprising at least one semi-permeable layer and at least one filter layer. A chemical release system may include a cartridge or vessel. The cartridge may include a hollow body with two opposing open ends. A time-release pouch may be located within the hollow body and holds a composition that mixes with potable water to eliminate scale conditions and maintain a neutral pH in the potable water. A feeding head assembly may be coupled within the hollow body between the time-release pouch and one open end of the hollow body.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PASSIVELY DOSING A FLUID WITH CONSUMABLE ADDITIVES
Systems and methods for passively dosing fluid with a consumable additive in a controlled and measured fashion. A capsule containing the additive is placed in a fluid reservoir and passively doses static water in the reservoir over time. Instead of directly exposing the additive to the dispensing system's fluid, fluid within the capsule's internal volume becomes saturated with dissolved additive and then diffuses to the dispensing system's fluid through one or more openings. The one or more openings are sized so the that the diffusion occurs at a predetermined rate, and are positioned on the capsule to prevent an undesirable fluid exchange which extends the life of the additive and maintains a constant diffusion rate. The size of the cartridge can be selected to control the volume of fluid that is passively dosed within the reservoir, thereby controlling an overall concentration of additive in the total volume dispensed.
