Lake restoration systems and processes
Systems and methods of restoring a lake including dredging, island creation, water treatment, real estate development, computer modeling of environmental conditions, wave height reduction, sediment removal and encapsulation, bathymetry contouring, littoral zone restoration, plant restoration, and/or fish restoration.
Universal chemical processor
A universal chemical processor (UCP) including a reactor vessel with a main chamber, comprises inlets for feedstock, a fluidizing medium and reactants. The UCP further includes a reactive X-ray chemical processor (RXCP) having a large area hollow cylindrical cold cathode in the main chamber, a grid positioned concentrically with respect to the cathode, and an anode positioned concentrically with respect to the cathode and grid. In operation, when activated, the cathode of the RXCP emits electrodes onto the anode, which then emits X-rays into a radiation zone within the main chamber capable of ionizing feedstock and reactants, inducing chemical reactions, and sterilizing and decomposing organic materials within the radiation zone, and wherein, a fluidized bed is supported in the main chamber when the fluidizing medium and feedstock are supplied. The RXCP and the fluidized bed portions can be operated separately or in conjunction to achieve unanticipated results.
Repairing Material for Emergency Treatment of Black and Odorous Surface Water Environment and Its Preparation Method
The disclosure provides a repairing material for emergency treatment of a black and odorous surface water environment and its preparation method, belonging to the fields of environmental science and engineering technology. The preparation method of the disclosure specifically includes the following steps: (1) uniformly stirring activated carbon, calcium chloride, ammonia water solution, polyethylene glycol and water in a stirrer, then dropwise adding hydrogen peroxide, and after the completion of the dropwise adding, obtaining a calcium peroxide repairing material solution; (2) adding a sodium hydroxide solution to the calcium peroxide repairing material solution obtained in step (1) until a pH reaches 11.5, thereby obtaining a suspension; (3) centrifuging the suspension in step (2) to obtain a solid; and (4) washing the solid in step (3) with distilled water until a final pH of residual water reaches 8.4, and then drying the obtained precipitate to obtain the repairing material. The repairing material of the disclosure has good treatment effect and high efficiency.
METHOD FOR DEGRADING BENZO(A)PYRENE WITH A HALOPHILIC BACTERIUM STRAIN OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS HAEMOLITICUS
A method for degrading a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon such as the 5-membered ring compound benzo(a)pyrene (BZP) using a halophilic microbe Staphylococcus haemoliticus, strain 10SBZ1A.
BARRAGE WITH FUNCTION OF COLLECTING FLOATING GARBAGE ON WATER SURFACE
A barrage with a function of collecting floating garbage on a water surface is provided. It includes a first dam body as a main body of the barrage provided with multiple built-in low water level drainage channels and high water level drainage channels, a second dam body provided with multiple notches for converging floating garbage on the water surface, a garbage collecting and storing equipment arranged between the first dam body and the second dam body and a solar power generating equipment. The garbage collecting and storing equipment maintains running of the garbage conveyor belt by utilizing electric energy provided by the solar power generating equipment, thereby collecting garbage in a garbage pool beside the barrage. It not only has conventional functions of the barrage, but also greatly saves cost of manually salvaging garbage and avoids water pollution caused by accumulation of garbage on the river surface.
Graphene coated glass material and uses thereof
A graphene coated crushed glass particle adsorbent is provided for the removal of heavy metals and other contaminants in from solutions such as wastewaters, contaminated surface water and groundwater. The adsorbent comprises crushed (e.g. recycled) glass coated with graphene nano-sheets using a staged thermal binding process and the silicas in the glass as a catalyst. The adsorbent may be configured for use in both in-situ and ex-situ treatment systems and is capable of removing heavy metals and other inorganic and organic contaminants. The strong adsorptive bond between contaminants and the graphene coating on crushed glass particles can also lead to alternative applications of the end of life adsorbent, such as base material in road and pavement (e.g. cement-like) construction materials.
Water treatment apparatus management system and household water treatment apparatus
A water treatment apparatus management system which manages a household water treatment apparatus located at or near a place of water use, and treats water before treatment with at least one type of filter to produce treated water for the place of water use. The system includes: a filter information storage unit storing information regarding an in-service filter used in the household water treatment apparatus; an information receiver receiving information regarding performance change of the in-service filter from the household water treatment apparatus; and a water type estimation means that estimates a water type of the water before treatment based on the information regarding performance change and the information regarding the in-service filter. The information regarding the in-service filter includes reference information of performance change of the same or the same type of filter as the in-service filter for each of plural types of reference water before treatment.
Apparatus and method for collecting marine debris
An apparatus for collecting floating marine debris comprises a frame, a debris collection container in communication with a rear opening of the frame, a pair of helicoidal screws mounted to the frame in a symmetrical V-arrangement that tapers inwardly from a front opening of the frame to the rear opening, and at least one prime mover rotationally coupled to the pair of helicoidal screws. The prime mover is operable to rotate the helicoidal screws in opposite directions at the same angular velocity in water to move the apparatus forward through the water, such that floating marine debris enters the apparatus through the front opening, passes through the rear opening and is collected in the debris collection container.
Water treatment system and method
A structuring assembly for structuring water in a water treatment system. The structuring assembly comprising a body portion, a tubular first layer defining an interior channel for passage of water, a plurality of structuring bodies positioned in the channel and a dampening layer positioned about the first tubular layer. In application in the water treatment system, as water passes through the channel and over the structuring bodies, dissolved oxygen content of the water is increased.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR WATER PROCESSING
A method of evaporating a fluid is provided. The method comprises forming a flow with toroidal vortices in the fluid, such that the fluid is exposed to alternating flow velocities and alternating pressures, thereby increasing evaporation of the fluid. A method of precipitating salt out of an aqueous solution is also provided. The method comprises forming a flow with toroidal vortices in the aqueous solution, such that the aqueous solution is exposed to alternating flow velocities and alternating pressures, thereby initiating precipitation of salts from the solution.
