20170197857 · 2017-07-13 ·

A system and method are provided for a food loading station having a disposer that grinds food waste that is located at a facility that processes food waste. A storage tank receives a slurry of food waste and water from the disposer for storage until the slurry is collected for transportation to an anaerobic digestion facility. An agitator is installed in the storage tank for mixing the slurry stored in the storage tank prior to collection for transportation to the anaerobic digestion facility. A discharge outlet is installed on the storage tank for connection to a discharge hose of a collection truck. The discharge outlet has an air admittance valve for admitting ambient air into the discharge hose while the slurry is sucked out of the storage tank through the discharge hose and into the collection truck.

INLINE WATER CONTAMINANT DETECTOR AND FILTER
20170199169 · 2017-07-13 ·

An affordable, low-power, low-profile water contamination detection and/or filtration device that can be installed directly onto a home faucet or other water line. The contamination detection part uses photometric and other sensors to collect data pertaining to levels of Total Organic Carbon, Total Dissolved Solids, heavy metals, turbidity, harmful bacteria, and other contaminants. The device uses efficient circuit design so that parts of the sensor, LED, and calculation circuit are only activated when the faucet is turned on and water fills a measurement chamber. The filtration part of the device can be switched on and off using simple twist interface, such that filtered water can flow directly into the contamination detection part for testing.

OXIDATION AND COLLOIDAL DESTABILIZATION WASTE WATER TREATMENT
20170190601 · 2017-07-06 ·

A method for treating waste water includes measuring oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) in at least one location in the waste water and measuring, in the waste water, one or more characteristics associated with particulate matter or organic material in the water. One or more values associated with treatment of the water is computed based on measurements of ORP and measurements of the characteristics associated with particulate matter or organic matter in the water. A level of ozonation in the waste water is adjusted based on the computed values.

A diaphragm valve includes a valve body, a valve assembly disposed to seal the valve cavity and including a diaphragm and a valve seat retained with a seat carrier, a threaded member assembled with the valve body, and a valve actuator assembled with the valve body and operable to move a surface of the diaphragm into and out of contact with the valve seat. The valve body includes a valve cavity, a first port and a second port, with the first port and the second port being open to the valve cavity. The threaded member includes an annular bead that directly contacts the diaphragm to apply a compressive load to the diaphragm against a first side of the seat carrier. The valve actuator is separate from the threaded member, and is removable from the valve body without removing the threaded member from the valve body.

AERODYNAMIC DEVICE FOR MOTOR-VEHICLE
20170166267 · 2017-06-15 ·

Aerodynamic device for a motor-vehicle including a panel structure located under the front part of the motor-vehicle and elastically biased towards a raised position and configured to be moved towards a lowered position due to an airflow which invests the motor-vehicle during travel. The aerodynamic device includes a bag structure provided inside of a cavity for receiving in its interior the airflow which invests the motor-vehicle during travel, in such a way that above a predetermined threshold value of the motor-vehicle speed, the bag structure is inflated and pushes the panel structure towards its lowered position.

Water denitrification

The described implementations relate to water denitrification. One method obtains nitrate levels in influent and effluent of a moving bed media filter and determines carbon levels in the effluent. The method also doses carbon feedstock into the influent based on both the nitrate levels and the carbon levels.

Determination of water treatment parameters based on absorbance and fluorescence

A computer-implemented method for determining a water treatment parameter includes receiving, by a computer, measurements of a fluorescence emission spectrum of a water sample including a first peak emission wavelength and at least a second peak emission wavelength, emitted in response to an excitation wavelength, receiving, by the computer, an absorbance measurement obtained at the excitation wavelength of the water sample, determining, using the computer, a ratio of the measurements at either the second peak emission wavelength, or a sum of measurements at a plurality of peak emission wavelengths including at least the first peak emission wavelength and the second peak emission wavelength, to the first peak emission wavelength, and calculating, using the computer, a value for the water treatment parameter based on a combination of at least the ratio and the absorbance measurement.
