WATER RECYCLING SYSTEM AND METHOD
20210206657 · 2021-07-08 ·

A device, system, and processor-readable medium for untreated grey water treatment and reuse are disclosed. Untreated grey water entering a building's plumbing system is tested for recyclability before it routes for treatment and reuse or disposal through a building's sewer line. Certain sensors decide how to route the untreated grey water through treatment in the device. Treatments to untreated grey water could include multi-level filtration and heating/cooling cycles for a prescribed time period to produce treated grey water meeting EPA-approved standards. Once treated, the treated grey water is routed to treated grey water tanks where it is stored for later use in a building's toilets and landscaping.

The present invention relates to a system and method for continuous monitoring of system health in closed water systems. Sensors are provided to measure a plurality of system parameters. The measurements are compared to threshold ranges. A diagnosis of system health, specifically in relation to corrosion, is derived from the comparison of at least a first parameter to its threshold range. The diagnosis is further refined by comparison of a further parameter to its threshold range. Also disclosed are example sensors and methods, including galvanic sensors, optical corrosion sensors and methods for monitoring the effectiveness of inhibitors in the water system using conductivity measurements.

The nanocomposite composition comprises a plurality of semi-interpenetrating polymer network/zeolite-silver nanocomposite, including a polymer matrix. The polymer matrix is dispersed with a plurality of zeolite nanoparticles and a plurality of silver nanoparticles. The method of producing semi-interpenetrating polymer networks/zeolite-silver nanocomposite as hydrogel form comprises microemulsion polymerization of monomeric mixture uses methyl methacrylate (MMA) in presence of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDM) cross-linker for MMA monomer, acrylamide (AAm), acrylic acid (AAc) and linear poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) monomers in the presence of N,N-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) cross-linker and TX-100 surfactant. Further, the prepared nanocomposite is a water hardness removal filter and an efficient inhibition of sulfate-reducing bacteria nanocomposite. Also, the water filter cartridge exhibits a stable filtration performance during large scale production with reduced fluctuation infiltration flow rate and shows highly stable behaviors in high salt concentration.

System and method for liquid disinfection

The efficiency of water disinfection can be significantly increased by supplying the ozone in combination with oxygen to an inlet of a cavitation pump or a line atomizer. A compressor can be introduced at an inlet of the cavitation pump or the line atomizer, compressing the gas mixture at a pressure higher than the pressure within pump or the atomizer. The compressed gases are provided to the inlet of the atomizer or the pump, where the compressed gases mix with the water and enter the cavitation pump or the line atomizer (where most of the dissolution of the gases happens). The compressor allows to increase the amount of oxygen and ozone provided to the pump or the line atomizer, increasing their dissolved concentration. In addition to the disinfecting properties, the higher level of oxygen correlates to an improved taste of the water.

METHOD FOR CHARACTERIZING THE PREVALENCE OF A BIOCHEMICAL CONDITION WITHIN A POPULATION
20200385296 · 2020-12-10 ·

A method for estimating the prevalence of a biochemical condition in a population includes accessing, based on a wastewater sample collected by a wastewater sampling system that samples from a wastewater flow serving the population: a biochemical indicator concentration of a biochemical indicator characterized by a correlation of the biochemical indicator with the biochemical condition; and a biomarker concentration of a biomarker correlated with presence of human excreta. The method also includes: normalizing the biochemical indicator concentration based on the biomarker concentration; adjusting the biochemical indicator concentration based on decay characteristics of the biochemical indicator in wastewater; calculating a biochemical indicator mass estimate for the population based on the biochemical indicator concentration and an effective flow volume of the wastewater flow; and estimating a prevalence of the biochemical condition in the population based on the correlation of the biochemical indicator to the biochemical condition and the biochemical indicator mass estimate.
