PROCESSES AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING CONCENTRATION OF PFAS CONTAMINATION IN WASTEWATER AND/OR SOIL
20230058206 · 2023-02-23 · ·

A process for PFAS decontamination comprises exposing water comprising PFAS contaminant to gas to accumulate a PFAS concentrate and separating the PFAS concentrate. PFAS separation is enhanced by the addition of a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant, such as 1,1,1,2 tetraflouroethane, difluoromethane or pentaflouroethane to the gas wherein it is believed that with carbon-fluorine bonds of the hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant aid in attracting the carbon fluorine tail of all types of PFAS compounds to the water-gas interface and especially aids separation of smaller molecular weight PFAS molecules, including beyond what can be achieved using charged or ionised gases alone, thereby allowing a larger spectrum of PFAS molecules to be extracted from soil or water.

System and Method for Transporting Particulates in Water Using Directional Bubble Walls
20230159352 · 2023-05-25 ·

A system of directional bubble walls includes a plurality of bubble walls. Each bubble wall may have a shape elongated in one linear direction and have multiple air outlets directed in a perpendicular direction to the elongated direction. The air generated out of air outlets forms a blockade that either blocks particulates in water from moving through it or pushes the particulates away from it. The bubble walls may be placed in parallel to each other and separated from each other by a distance. An air source connected to the bubble walls may sequentially turn on and off the bubble walls such that the water particulates may be removed and pushed in a desired direction. The bubble walls may also be turned on simultaneously, and other modes of operation may be adapted to effectively remove and move water particulates.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SYNCHRONOUSLY TREATING SEWAGE AND SLUDGE THROUGH COMBINATION OF STEP-FEED PARTIAL NITRIFICATION AND ANAEROBIC AMMONIA OXIDATION

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for synchronously treating sewage and sludge through a step-feed partial nitrification coupling anaerobic ammonia oxidation process, belonging to the biological treatment field. Ammonia rich landfill leachate is firstly pumped into an aerobic reactor to realize partial nitrification process; exogenous surplus sludge coupling with partial nitrification reactor effluent are input to an anoxic reactor together for achieving integrated fermentation and denitrification process; finally, effluent from the anoxic reactor is pumped into an integrated autotrophic nitrogen removal reactor by a step-feed mode, the integrated reactor contains two main running units of aeration and anoxic stirring, ammonia is oxidized into nitrite in aeration stage, and the generated nitrite and ammonia contained in secondary influent are further removed through anammox process which operates stably and reliably, realizes efficient nitrogen removal from landfill leachate without external carbon source addition, and realizes the purpose of exogenous excess sludge reduction simultaneously.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PREDICTING DISSOLVED OXYGEN IN SEAWATER USING A NEURAL NETWORK

A method for predicting a dissolved oxygen level in treated seawater includes directing raw seawater from a fluid channel into a deaerator, directing an inert gas and an oxygen scavenger solution into the deaerator, thereby removing dissolved oxygen from the raw seawater such that treated seawater exits the deaerator, receiving information about a plurality of input parameters comprising a raw seawater flow rate, an inert gas flow rate, and an oxygen scavenger flow rate, implementing a neural network trained to predict the dissolved oxygen level of the treated seawater based on the plurality of input parameters and predicting, with the neural network, the dissolved oxygen level of the treated seawater based on the plurality of input parameters.
